Ronald Koeman discussion

The seasons over in reality mate. Ok, we somehow manage to get 6th (not on IMO, like). So what?

We need to get ourselves sorted out for next season and a CL place challenge AND/OR a cup win.
I don't believe we will at all but what if.

In 7 days we gave closed 5 points on kopites. Before kick off we have closed 5 on United. Before kick off we have closed at least 6 on city pending their game also.

What if the team has now clicked, and over the weekend we have chances to close even more? Hell beat United and kopite somehow and there's another 3 closed.

This isn't a getting carried away question, I don't expect us to overtake them and I expect us to lose a few before the end. But what if city don't get it together, or the kopites do fall from grace whilst we are winning? Potentially 2 places up for grabs there then alone.

6th is still important, incase the cups dont result in 7th getting Europa. We need some kind of European football to attract the quality we need.
EL football next season will destroy our PL season. We do t want that. Only CL is worth it.

After December, I think. Won twice in December. It's a good January so far.
Before that it was one win in 10 if I recall

But the point is we have beaten arsenal Leicester Southampton city palace all in the last month. 5 wins after not winning in 10 games. Something is clicking here, something is finally working. As I said in the reply to you I don't expect miracles and we will lose sooner rather than later because we are everton. But the point is, with essentially 3 new players come in, two not starting yet and you would like to think one or two more, right now it looks promising that the general performances and results are on the upturn now after 3 months of pretty poor games.

If come this time next year we aren't doing to well then there you go, time has told us koeman isn't the right man. But considering he is building his own squad up here, not to shabby to pull 5 wins out the bag in the middle of doing that

They never had any grace to start with

Nah, a bit far fetched. Their squad strength will tell toward the end if the season.

This season is over without the cup involvement. I'd rather we lost against both City and Palace and beat Leicester, tbh.

I'd like to be in the cup also mate.

But this season is more than just a cup run. It's about changing attitudes, tactics, old habits. Koeman demands more from his players than martinez ever did. I'm not mentioning martinez for a dig here, saying koeman asks for more from the players. The ones who couldn't deliver are being kicked out the club one by one. Players who have the right attitude like Davies, are reaping the rewards for it.

If come the end of the season we finish 7th but actually win a load of games in the process then minds change at the club. If secure players are let go because they were simply deemed not good enough then thoughts change. If players come in and improve us, again like Davies, like Gueye, like williams (considering jags decline), and hopefully schneiderlain, then again each new signing will give the players a lift because they see the winning mentality and the ambition of the club improving.

Perhaps this season was a write off before we even started the minute the transfer window shut, and for reasons which do include our former manager. But if come the end of the season we have regained a winning mentality back and belief in ourselves then that is a successful season my eyes.
