Ronald Koeman discussion

Who's not giving him a chance? He's not for me so far regardless of the recent results. I'd never cast a manager aside and not give them a chance to get it right though.

He's a strange man. Very cold and not Everton at all, IMO. Still, this time next season for me in terms of acceptance or complete rejection.

Strange man, very cold...

Exactly the same things where said about catterick mate, don't care if the managers media friendly or likeable long as they produce results.

Also the statement of 'not Everton' what's it mean exactly nowadays? What exactly IS Everton?

Please, let's not start comparing Catterick with this feller.

That's Everton. Great job from RonK & Rhino making it happen.

I'd like to be in the cup also mate.

But this season is more than just a cup run. It's about changing attitudes, tactics, old habits. Koeman demands more from his players than martinez ever did. I'm not mentioning martinez for a dig here, saying koeman asks for more from the players. The ones who couldn't deliver are being kicked out the club one by one. Players who have the right attitude like Davies, are reaping the rewards for it.

If come the end of the season we finish 7th but actually win a load of games in the process then minds change at the club. If secure players are let go because they were simply deemed not good enough then thoughts change. If players come in and improve us, again like Davies, like Gueye, like williams (considering jags decline), and hopefully schneiderlain, then again each new signing will give the players a lift because they see the winning mentality and the ambition of the club improving.

Perhaps this season was a write off before we even started the minute the transfer window shut, and for reasons which do include our former manager. But if come the end of the season we have regained a winning mentality back and belief in ourselves then that is a successful season my eyes.

Great Post mate.
We know the season is over in regard of trophies but we are now seeing change and victories. All we have left this season is hope. The hope that we are gelling together, the hope that we have finally turned a corner and are turning into a hard to beat good team. Hope we are progressing and hope for more improvements in the summer. I know we have this hope every season but something does seem to have clicked into place and yet we know we can play even better.

Then hot = deluded.

This season is far from over. The rest of the transfer window is vitally important for us. We need 2 more in and 3/4 out.
We need to start building a team that our summer targets will want to play for, if we get 7th and don't secure a Europa Cup place then we just might attract European class players, if we finish 7th and it doesn't get us a Europa Cup spot it will still be important as players may want to play for us.
We need to keep progressing as momentum builds momentum.

Ok mate. Feels like it is because we can't achieve anything.
We cant win a trophy, but if we can put a run together then European football is well within reach. The teams above have to play each other as we have to play all of the above teams so there is plenty more twists and turns left yet. If we can add one or two more additions before the end of the month then why cant we make a fist of it.

EL football next season will destroy our PL season. We do t want that. Only CL is worth it.
I kind of agree here. Unless you have an INSANELY deep squad, europa usually wears players out tremendously. I'd love to win the whole thing and qualify for champs league twice (top 4 and Europa victory :p) but that is unrealistic. BUT, we have to try and get the best results we can; can't just give up on our season. If we end up in Europa, so be it.

I think that Ron looks like a manager who combines many of the attributes that Moyes and Martinez possess, but time will tell. I don't care that he doesn't appear to 'get us', Martinez played that card and in the end it simply confirmed him as a fraud in my eyes, if Ron is ever going to get us it will take time, but in the final analysis it won't make him a better manager and matters not one way or the other.

You should not consider the impact Europa League will have in our ability to attract a better tier of player, not the top, top tier, only CL can get them, but players are drawn to European football.

And I hear you. I hope that we have enough depth if we do happen to make it into Europa. The fan in me wants us to make it far into Europa, but if we are to compete for top four, the realist in me wants us to get knocked out early.

I don't think Koeman comes across as cold at all. The man is one of the best footballers of all time and I think he just has a very high level of expectation/professionalism.

I was far from convinced with him before he joined and my posts here would be proof of that, but he's shown what he's all about and has us winning games as well as showing the importance of being ruthless when it comes to being successful.

Would our previous managers have dropped Jags like Ronald has? Not a chance.

If we manage to break into the top 6 this season, it would be an incredible achievement given how competitive the league is this season (the most competitive it's ever been by far).
