If someone trolls for attention, they're an idiot. I'm not going to apologise for calling an idiot what they are.

Less than United but more than us generally.

But you say we can't finish above Utd because they spend 100m on one player, Yet Liverpool and Spurs have

So should we be aiming to finish above those two as they won't be spending that much than us going forward

Better, yes. Miles better? Hmmm.

Our season was very much alive this time last season, for example.

Don't be fooled by these bottling players now racking up a few points that our sky's are blue in the future. These games have no pressure and that's no test for them. First half of next season is the time to judge them and the manager. Things will become VERY clear then.

You should be made to wash your dirty little troll mouth out for talking about Tom et al like that. Disgusting

You make some good points occasionally Dave, but do you ever lighten up and celebrate an Everton win with a few beers?

Try it, you might enjoy it, 'tis the weekend after all!

Yeah, I call them the sensational six. It's almost impossible now to break into the top 5.

Is this the excuse being trotted out in advance of next season's underwhelming finish?

Lordy.

Why is next season relevant at all? I'm basing it on his competition this season.

For him to finish higher any of the teams above us would be a huge achievement - look at the spends for each of the teams.

It's impossible to gauge what the situation will be next season. For all we know we could spend huge money next season with the expectation being top 4.

Your very obvious dislike of Koeman is irrational. So what if we went through a period of poor performances and quality of football? After the past two seasons of even worse football and results, I'm really enjoying Everton at the moment.

It's a myth that we played better football under Martinez in the past two seasons - it was dour, soulless, embarrassing times for the club.

I objected to Davek 'expecting us' to finish above United due to our 'increased' spending. I never said it's not possible to finish above them but there's a big difference between hoping and expecting to finish above a team that outspends you regularly.

The last part of your post is open to debate. Not saying you're wrong or right but if I was hedging my bets I'd say it's doubtful we'll outspend Liverpool any time soon. Spurs, possibly over a season or two but in terms of wages, probably not imo.

You just need to look at the commercial revenue those teams are making compared to us realise that to beat them in the league we'll be overachieving. Doesn't mean it's not possible but anyone other than Davek, who has an agenda against Koeman, knows it's foolish to 'expect' to beat teams that can outspend you on a regular basis.

I think we need to spend 30m per player consistently to bridge the gap between us on the top 6 (if we've got that sort of money). Tottenham would be the ideal but theyve shot ahead of us in the last 7 or 8 years sadly.

We've spent 76m so far this season, Liverpool have spent 68m
