Ronald Koeman discussion

Dave serious questions, please answer honestly we all know you don't like Koeman.

Do you think EFC have progressed under Koeman since he took over? No. We have stopped the rot.
When would you be won over by Koeman if ever? If so what would he have to do to make you change your mind?
How long should he be given to prove himself before getting the sack?
What players would you want him to get between now and the end of January?

No. We have stopped the rot. Discipline is back, but we are largely turd as a football outfit - or have been until these very recent weeks.

Win a cup or get us 5th after giving those above us an almighty fright.

How long should he be given to prove himself before getting the sack?
My opinion on this has never wavered: free pass this season whatever happened. Next season - if need be - he's there to be shot at...if it's atrocious and we're struggling he'd have to go. Anthwere from 8th upwards he'd keep his job. Third season - sacked unless a cup was delivered or top 4/5.

What players would you want him to get between now and the end of January?
Again, Ive never wavered on this either: we should just have got Sigurdsson in, no one else. I believe we paid well over the odds for a player we didn't need in Schneiderlin.

Why do you want us to finish 5th?

5th is a nothing placing, its the same as 7th in a season in which it gives us European football.

Oh........

So many things wrong with this post...

Oh........

I dont want us to finish 5th...I'm giving that as an outlying point that he has to at least make in any third season if he hadn't already delivered a CL berth already.

Should be a piece of piss for your hero - a short stride from those Johan Cruyff Shields he racked up in the Dutch SPL.

I will answer these as well Friend.

Massively, the middle wasnt the best, but it took him time to impose his rule over the club, to change the attitude, we are now seeing the fruits of these changes.

I am currently, to change my mind he would need to start lying, I like his honesty, if we play badly, he says we played badly, anything below 10th after a period of time would have me starting to question any progress

How long should he be given to prove himself before getting the sack?
4 years, provided he keeps us in the top half of the league

What players would you want him to get between now and the end of January?
Magic and Hunger

Im expecting an assault on the top 4 next season, 5th would be barely acceptable, but it all depends on the level of investment at Boardroom level, but im hopeful of a top 4 finish next season.

Name one...
Well, you say paid massively over the odds for a player we didn't need in schniederlin.

...go back a few weeks before Davies truly announced himself, and one thing Everton were crying out for was a centre midfielder to parter Gana. Someone to take over from Barry, of whom you consider one of our most important signings in x amount of time... Be it now, or when Barry's time is up. (Games catching up to him when he plays every week)

We are likely to ditch a couple of the baddies, i.e. Clevs, Gibson etc - Schniederlin is an insane improvement. Not to mention he's got his best years ahead of him, and if we make Europe then we need a squad that isn't full of dross to cope with it.

But ok, I agree sigurdsson would have been a good signing, but I guarantee we would have had to 'pay massively over the odds' for him and he would've just displaced Barkley without really giving him a chance to improve.

Ok, so what would the figure be that would be enough to hold the bold Ronald's feet to the fire?...

I disagree. We had an overreaction to Gueye leaving for the AFCON. We had a lot of players still here who could play that role...and Davies had already easily suggested he could be one of them...meantime we are crying out for some gumption up front and that's where the cash should have been prioritised for.

It was a frivolous squandering of precious resources, imo.

Top 4 would require £300m+ net spend. I'm just not sure we have the levels to do that at this moment in time goat.

It doesnt require those levels of spending Browns, key players in key areas.

Ok, so what would the figure be that would be enough to hold the bold Ronald's feet to the fire?...

There isnt a figure, its all about investment in the right players.

You see this window.

We have signed 2 players so far, for 34m.
We have loaned out 3 players, lets assume all 3 players are sold, we will get 33m back in fees, so the net spend on the last 2 windows would show as 1m spent.

So if the window closed today and all our loan players were sold we would have signed 6 players and replaced 4, in terms of money spent on fees it would show as 1m.

But the difference in quality in the replacements is VAST.

Clever investment we could mount a proper top 4 assault with around the 120 million net spend. Exactly the reason Walsh was brought I suspect, to bring in players that can help us on the way for a fraction of the price.

You don't need marquee signings to make top 4. But you'll need them to start winning things. Only takes a few more results in the usual 'bad runs' to remain up there. But I think the manager and players will be better equipped to deal with that next season.

Will be interesting to hear what Koeman's aspirations are for next season.

...yes, that's all nice 'an all, but can you give me some bottom line that I can bookmark and torment you with?
