Mate, the DaveK app is an automated history randomiser designed to generate a stream of posts that contradict it's own previous posts and re-write its own history to suit its own non-specific purpose. It has a bonus feature in that it automatically winds up other posters. It also comes free with subscription to GOT - so a real bonus ;)

Chatbot.....that was my thinking too.

i really don't get how people are writing off any chance of top 6, we are 5 points off Utd, 7 of City and 9 off Rs(who won the league in November). We had a terrible terrible run, won 1 in 10, yet were only 5 points off a team that spent 150 mil ish(Ibra probably had a massive signing on fee) have arguable the best manager in the world. 7 points off the most expensive squad in the league who also have arguable the best manager in the world.

Koeman has fixed the slump, got rid of a few of the deadwood, an has brought really well. The key to winning games is stopping teams scoring, look at Mourinho and Leicester championship winning sides, conceded very few goals. Something we haven't done for a few years. don't get me wrong getting 4th is a tough ask but i beleive we can do it, not to mention we still have 6 days left of the transfer window to improve the squad even more.

There are posers on here *cough* " @MoutsGoat " *cough* who are trying to tell others we are on course for 34-36 points from the remaining 16 games.

I just think that's cruel delusion of the forum.
I set 60 points as a reasonable target for him this season and I think we'll get it. Not expecting much more than that. Whether that gets us 6th 7th or 8th is irrelevant. If we were to somehow win our next 8 and be on 60 points with 8 to play then I will get excited but that's just not going to happen. Good and bad runs I am not really interested in, final total is all it's about for me.

I want to win as many competitions as possible, I want to go to as many places as possible watching Everton. I want Everton to win pots in mad stadiums drinking boss lager and camping out in some square singing Everton songs all day.

Anyone who wants otherwise is a wool who takes a flask to sit down with at the match

I agree with all you say, Bro.

But I ain't a wool and I bring a flask in mid winter :p

Not writing off our chances mate, but that dreadful run you mentioned has made it a lot harder for us. Realistically we need one or more of the teams above us to slip up, and for us to maintain our current form for the rest of the season. Not impossible but a big ask.

To have any chance we need to win games. Draws aren't enough. Sounds obvious I know, but when the game is in the balance we need to go for it, regardless of who we are playing. Yes it can backfire on us, but even if we only win half of those games, then it's worth it.

I don't think we can get top four though for the simple reason that we need 3 of the teams above us to slip up. I just don't think that's going to happen.

I love my travel flask to be honest mate

I recall one day, must have been the very early 90s and we were playing away to Wimbledon in the Cup.

The match was at Selhurst Park and we were crammed in behind one of the goals.

A freezing cold January day....must have been 3rd or 4th round.

I smuggled a hip flask full of rum into the ground to warm me innards.......and quaffed the lot :pint2:

Which was a blooming good job because as I recall it was the most boring 0-0 draw you can imagine

Makes it much harder but not altogether out the question.

Now, I think the three London teams will finish in the top three positions.

But the three below are not any great shakes and they have Cup commitments etc.

I fancy we will overtake at least one of them....though probably not all three.

Still.....the prospect of playing hound to the Manc and RS hares has breathed new life into a season which we had called time on less than three weeks ago ;)

But as you say.......just imagine our autumn slump had merely been bad rather than horrendous.

We would we well ensconced in that top six :(

Do you think Ronald will have the balls to go for it mate?

He did in the last game against Palace, but I've also seen him put up the barriers in other games when we've been drawing. Draws are neither use nor ornament to me. I'm not advocating going hell for leather from the first whistle Martinez style; but if the games in the balance with say, 20 minutes remaining, be positive like on Saturday when he threw Lookman on.

Think the biggest hurdle to overcome would be the fans reaction to losing. At the moment we'll take a draw above a defeat every day of the week. But, in my opinion, we need to learn to be able to look at the bigger picture and sacrifice a few defeats in the pursuit of more wins. It goes against the grain even as I'm writing it.

For example, a typical decent season for us over the years would be W15, D14, L9. Points 59.

If we were to win just half of those drawn games, W22 L16. Points 66.

That's the difference between euro qualification most seasons.

Right on the money.

That is exactly what you have to do to get enough points to challenge for top 4 in this league. You have to throw caution to the wind especially if a game is fizzling out to a stalemate. That's how we ran up 21 wins out of 38 games in 2013/14 and it's the ONLY way we'll ever trouble those places again. It's why I feel sure Koeman will never get near one of those spots. He's not as conservative as Moyes, but he's not a feller who would - as a policy - go for broke time after time.
