Ronald Koeman discussion

Ok. Fair enough. Just buzzing we have got rid off a lot of the players we all knew were not good enough .... and all in 1 window !

You are much mistaken if you class Del among that lot.

It is a crying shame we are without the services of such a potentially excellent player for the rest of this season,

Let's hope commonsense prevails and Del is back where he belongs come August.....on the pitch for Everton.

Getting back to the top 5 and threatening a CL spot with enough points should be the objective. Minimum.

We finished 11th on 47 points last season and come the end were a complete shambles, with the vast majority of the fanbase against the manager, football and horrendous Goodison record.

Going from that to challenging for European Cup place as a minimum the following season is delusional, especially in the context of the strength of the current top 6.

Right now we are 7th and on course for 60+points. If it ends up like that there has been significant improvement and the vast majority of the fanbase will be happy.

Our priority next season needs to be to win the League Cup and finish top 6. You have maybe 2 difficult games and you're in the final.
We were on fire before RK played the deadwood against Norwich.

Now they are gone can you believe that Gibson, Oviedo, Cleverley, Niasse, McGeady (and hopefully Kone) were ever Everton players. Unbelievably bad lot that. About £12m in wages a year as well!

I can well "believe" Oviedo Baby was an Everton player.....he was doing very well until injury ruined him.

It is a real shame that injury came when it did.

And as for the others?

I do believe they were here as well because I have seen players as bad and indeed worse than them during my life supporting this club.

And I have no doubt if I live long enough I will their equal here again :pint2:

Yea we did the same in the last 2 seasons had we?
...but that's what he's been brought in to secure isn't it? Are you suggesting we pay this feller £6M per year and let him bang down £27M fees on players with minimal sell on value in order to get where Moyes had us?

Sorry, he'll have to do substantially better than that, starting next season.

Happiness with that ends this summer. Then the expectations better be met. Agreed?

The master.
It's absolutely spot on. We need to restate that and and recognise it if we're to progress. There's been too many managers and owners coming into Everton who were given an easy ride with easy to reach objectives - and we all settled for them reaching them and us treading water. What's wrong with telling some home truths and demanding that they go beyond being average and start winning us some trophies/building us a stadium instead of gabbing about it constantly?

It is what it is at the moment. If that changes then attitudes should change, not the other way around.

That's the scores on the doors so far. It's up to him to impress.
You don't set the standards though Moshiri and the board do. European football was banded about as the expectation for this season, which we are on course for, granted a better showing in the cups was probably part of the expectation but that will ultimately form the basis of his appraisal I would suspect. He has obviously assessed the squad he inherited and given opportunities where he felt necessary and has now offloaded those he feels aren't able to contribute - we don't seem any weaker despite removing squad players. We have progressed from mid table to a team that's viewed as European contenders and a team that's giving youth opportunity, despite the early threads about average squad age. To say a season is over is such short termism given the nature of club development. The end of this season is an opportunity to challenge for top 6 and build momentum for next season, where Koeman will add his own personnel and more importantly raise the clubs profile. Good work all in all, not great but good.

I mean you're the master silly.
