Ronald Koeman discussion

Koeman is not some gushing buffoon professing his eternal love for Everton like our previous manager. He's a professional and he's been hired to do a professional job.
I would take professionalism over hyper insincerity. Besides, he's Dutch and they're known to be decidedly more reserved.

Wasn't too keen on Koeman.

Warming to him as he has a plan B unlike any other Everton manager in the last twenty years of me going the match!

Not scared to go "Well, Plan A didn't work, time to change".

Spot on. He has made this team able to adapt to different formations with the click of a finger. We are now more flexible than for years. He also uses subs to change things even when we are winning to give freshness and that is something we very rarely did under Moyes. He spots things quicker and acts upon it.

The Boro game will be interesting, since Sunderland I'm not sure we've put in a convincing away performance apart from Leicester. We need to move away from lording it at Goodison but scrapping for draws away from home. Hopefully we will start to see that consistency in the second half of the season which will set us up for next season.

I can't get too excited about Everton teams winning at home second half of the season when the pressure is off. We saw that season after season under Moyes. The integration of youth, new signings, form of key players, is looking very hopeful however, as are the manner of the wins (hammering City 4-0 who are now playing very well)

Tbh I thought we did very well vs Palace. Their keeper had a great game. They threatened twice - and both times it was down to mistakes from us.

Agree though, it's about time we put in another steady away performance.

No thrills. Nothing fancy.

2-0. get the job done.

Not posting in direct reply to anyone, I saw a post stating we look fitter than a lot of teams. I remember Alex Ferguson saying he never structured UTD to hit the blocks running, but to finish the season strong, running out games which obviously proved successful at the time.
Now I'm not saying Koeman has purposely set us up for that, however with no extra games to concern us this season, we may just be set up to give it a good shake.

Secondly, Koeman's character, if everything is to be believed, the way he left Soton and joined us said loads about his character at the time. If rumours are to be believed and Barca come in at season's end and he packs and goes, we are in no position to moan. But for the time being I couldn't care if we had Hitler's grandson in charge, if he gets the players playing and positive results then that's all that matters to me.

Tbh mate, while it's a good point, I think it's just due to the fact that we're finally getting fitter as a side.

Even last year, we were quite good in the closing stages, but this year we've taken it to another level with how utterly dominant we have looked at certain times.

Not in terms of the general play, but it's as if the fitness of every one on our side (apart from Barry, bless him) is just top notch in the final 10 minutes.

It's a big part of why Del was shipped off I reckon.

Haven seen a previously woeful Hull get 4 pts from games against Man U and them lot and reading a decent article on him on the Guardian or somewhere like that, I would like to make an early shout for Marco Silva as our new boss when we get bored of Ronnie.

I'd like to thank Ronnie in advance for two seasons of stability, 7th place finishes, the introduction of a flurry of Finch Farm fledglings and a strong Europa League run. Gracias.

Just a follow up on my joking suggestion of Marco Silva as next coach if Koeman did actually hightail it, speaking to my workmate here who is a huge Porto fan he said he thinks he is a brilliant coach and would have been with Porto if there wasn't difficulties getting him away from Olympiakos at the time and then they went for a fan favourite in Nuno Espirito Santo. He should never have been gotten rid of at Sporting and I think there's still a legal battle going on over that. Please vault me accordingly when he goes on to be brilliant or disappears without trace.

Good point about Gerry, it's funny when you think of players like McCarthy who's best games for us have been when he's at full pelt, aggressive play. Were people really surprised his form suffered so much under a Martinez type of play and overall running of things like training. It's a basic fundamental of the game that the fitter and sharper the players are the better they will be. Other then Oviedo who's propbably just unlucky he has Baines ahead of him in the pecking order it's no surprise that any of the players that left did. I think it's part of the reason he kept Lennon. He knows at the very minimum if he has to call on him he will have the aggression and levels of fitness about him to work to the tactics Koeman wants the team to play to

Massively warming to him.
All I personally wanted was him to look like he's earning his money in relation to the football we play. Watching the early season stuff, with our CBs punting long, made my eyes bleed.
In the last games though we are getting the ball down and playing. It's been enjoyable to watch.
Fair play to him, he's winning me round which I thought was remotely likely.

I have him on ignore now, so won't be bothering again, like you say, it's pointless and a tad predictable. My last word on it though is it is self inflicted and childish and a very sad way for a grown man to live his life. There is little point in debating, some of the absolute garbage he types is so ridiculous it is non debatable.

A bit like you with your blind hatred for Koeman, but at least I get that you are honest and open about it.

This is an Everton forum though, so when posters are so anti- Everton about something, you are going to get slated.

99% of the forum want to see Everton do well. The likes of you and the aforementioned come across as you would prefer this not to be the case, as your ridiculous stance on the manager is more important to you and you want to be proven right if he fails.
I think you're maybe being a touch unfair to Zat there mate.

He was certainly very openly anti Koeman from the start, and he's entitled to his view to be fair. He was also (along with many others in here) very vocal during that dreadful run in the autumn. With Zat, I think a lot of that animosity was down to his belief that RK wouldn't give youth a chance.

However, we've all seen that RK has actually turned out to be quite pragmatic in that regard, and I actually believe that Zat may now be warming to him. You probably won't get him to admit that, but the number of anti Koeman posts he has made since the turn of the year has dropped dramatically.;)
