Ronald Koeman discussion

Fair comment, knocked out of both cups early & doing what you would expect in the league. He's doing a decent job, nothing more.

Actually, bearing in mind the naff pre-season we had due to the problems in the transfer window, added to him having to start the season with half of the uber gash left to him by his predecessor, I would say he is doing rather a splendid job myself.

He has improved the side defensively and offensively in half a season and that is undeniable.

He has offloaded all of the absolute pap left to him and brought kids into the side whom he has given confidence to.

He looks like he has finally able to get the best out of Barkley, who we all wanted to be our talisman but was going nowhere due to two years of being completely mismanaged.

He has installed discipline back into a side that looked an absolute rag-bag outfit, remember Anfield last season and Leicester away? We were the laughing stock and totally all at sea!

So when you weigh it up like that, he is exceeding the expectations bestowed upon him and then some more.

Statto is great for visualizing where points were dropped:

We had one home win last year against a team who finished in the top 15. Yikes

Koeman has turned Goodison back into a fortress which is great. Need to do a bit better on the road (can see we slipped up away against the mid table teams earlier in the season). Also annoying to see our only loss at home so far being Liverpool... the devils voodoo continues be at work

Adding to the comment on needing to improve the away record, looking at Koemans seasons with Southampton, it becomes evident that away from home Koeman has a great defensive record but needs to improve the attacking aspect in order to win more points

Here's Koemans away form:
Southampton (14/15): overall 9th, attack 13th, defense 1st
Southampton (15/16): overall 7th, attack 13th, defense 2nd
Everton (16/17): overall 7th, attack 10th, defense 7th

Very disappointing in the domestic cups, but certainly since the start of the new year there is a sense the club is moving in the right direction. There seems to be a momentum gathering that this club is on the up again. Koeman came in and must have wondered what he's inherited. He's now putting his stamp on the club and the team. The remenants of the Martinez era is being phased out. I'd give him 7/10 for his efforts so far. A decent run in either of the cups would have merited an 8.

You could say the same for the majority of people involved in football.

I'm just trying to enjoy the moment. I'm in my twenties and I've never seen us do anything in my life, I now have a little bit of optimism for us going forward.

If you had the chance, would you replace Koeman as manager, and if so, who with?
Someone like Favre. Tuchel would be good but unrealistic now.

Our form picked up once the pressure was off, Both cups we bottled out

Watch us fold at Anfield, No doubt in my mind this lot will go into hiding when a big game comes around

I remember the horrors of the 96/97 season when we finished with 42 points and narrowly avoided relegation....thats 2 points less than el fraudo achieved last year..At the moment RK is repairing the damage done by the former..he is not yet the messiah but he is indeed a very different boy.....naughty but nice.....lollol;)

There's a lot of fawning over a manager who clearly wouldn't give a damn about this club if Arsenal came along or some other CL club this summer and raised their skirts to him.

Sorry, I just don't get the praise this feller gets or the loyalty some have to him. He's just another hired hand to me. And if he doesn't get us way up that table next season he WILL be right up against it.

Yes, its brilliant isn't it! A very talented hired hand that doesn't work that hard, gets paid a lot of money and - surprise surprise - gets results.
;)

Anyway, let's see how long he does stay with us. His CV doesn't suggest that long but hopefully he will want to achieve something concrete with us (a trophy or Champions League) before leaving (and there is always the outside chance Everton will get to him and he will stay a few years)
