Ronald Koeman discussion

The fans reacted well to Lescott in Pre-Season and at the start of that Arsenal game.

That is a woeful defence of the situation, if you're suggesting a good reception will mean the fans are on the players side V the manager.

The fans will always back Everton. One of Koeman and Lukaku came out this week defending the club, talking us up, representing us in a professional manner. The other went to the press without the clubs permission, threw a tantrum because he's not as insta famous as his mate Pogboom, showed a complete disrespect to everyone connected to the club and made us the subject of numerous negative media pieces.

But yeah @davek , the fans are really going to be seething at Koeman for piping that beaut down.

If your child does something wrong you must scold him for it, doesn't mean you love him any less.

So refreshing to have a manager who is not a constant cheerleader for all our players all the time. Ron understands tough love is needed and if you are not committed then we will move on.

I'm repeating myslef now, but if Everton agree to the release clause and cower to player power, Rom gets a pay rise and a guarenteed exit this Summer and we never hear a single thought of Lukaku's on the two windows and club ambition. He is merely shifting blame, trying to cover himslef, much like Rooney when he was desperate to get a move to City, when it was rejected it was because he only questioning UTD's ambition? LOL.

Anyone who genuinely believes that Rom wants out because of these two windows and not because his agent has made him aware of where he could get a move to, needs their head feeling.

I've said before he won't be happy until he's at Real Bayern or Chelsea getting trophies handed to him. We could have bought a load of stars these two windows and been in 4th and Lukaku would still do exactly the same, use is just as long as he needs us then go when he's finally good enough for an offer to come in.

I've seen this said a lot, but it makes no sense.

Why would lukaku need the fans on his side if he's leaving? He wouldn't give a toss what we thought, so why would he sugarcoat it? The Rooney situation is different, a club legend leaving to go to cross city rivals might want to try to justify themselves, but if anyone needs their head feeling, it's people surprised that a player who has always been quite open about wanting to win stuff not wanting to commit to 5 more years at a club that doesn't look particularly close to doing so.

Over the years the only reason my account and your account haven't been accused of being multi's is because you put your points across much better than me. I agree with every word you say.

Because he isn't leaving for a few months.

Do you think we'd know about this if the club agreed to the release fee that would've guaranteed a summer move?

So you think the players should manage the team, not the manager?
It was argued that yesterday Koeman came forward with the judgement of Solomon - tacking a line between his player's concerns and the board's ambitions. Well he didn't, and the text provided underlines that. He told Lukaku it was wrong to comment and that he had no right to as it's not his place.

That's the issue here.

Are you suggesting lukaku was right to conduct that interview this week and condemn his teammates who he has contributed in no small measure, to make him top scorer this season? I know koeman isn't your flavour of the month, but to suggest the fans will be on lukaku's side is just ludicrous at best.
The fans will be on his side.

Yeah and Lukaku deserved one. Drawing unecessary negative attention to the club with his look at me antics. What you're shocked about is an experienced manager like Koeman not being in awe of Rom and dealing with him accordingly. It's called management Dave. We haven't seen it at Goodison for a while.
He was telling our players to honour their contracts...that's very thin ice he's standing on there. Barkley and Lukaku must have been amused.

But then he could've just not said anything. He could have waited til the end of the season before saying he wanted out and not had to face the fans at all. Doing it now and then shifting the blame would make absolutely no sense, unless he was just telling the truth (as he sees it).

Against Koeman?

Just for clarification.
No, not against Koeman.

My point was that he (Koeman) is on the wrong side of that debate over club ambition. And he KNOWS the Lukaku and the fans are right too, because just 7 weeks ago he was having to wrestle cash out of the board too...so why he's advised the player to keep his mouth shut I dont know.

Placed himself on the wrong side of a debate yesterday for me.

I think the fans will react well to Lukaku tomorrow and that will be pretty uncomfortable for Koeman who has condemned him.
I tell you what - whoever arrives after Martinez won't repeat his mistake and retain a judas in a position where he can connive behind his back.

My first words of advice to any such new manager would be to get shut of Baines and Jagielka, especially Baines. He can't be trusted not to go running to the media with snide comments.

Besides that, he's past his best by three seasons. I'd even get Garbutt back and give him a chance over him.

Funny how you would take such a hard line stance on Baines for speaking to the press last year. But with Rom you are having a go at Koeman for acting like a proper manager.
