Ronald Koeman discussion

Bit early for that imo.

Said a few weeks after he pitched up that he comes across as competent. Since then he has shown some stones in calling the board out over Morgs, and his faith in the young lads seems genuine.

Ross has come on well, after a bit of tough love.

On balance, I feel comfortable that Koeman is our manager.

And FWIW, I dont think the Rom circus is all played out either.
Stop being sensible....:);)

Why is that not a realistic target?

Stop getting your excuses in early for this manager. They are 6 points we need to shoot for. No more going to those grounds with Koeman and hiding behind the couch (see City, Chelsea and Spurs away)

How he handles the Derby away will be interesting, I'll be hiding behind the couch for that one

No no no no no and no again

You don't go to Anfield and attack them, They will ruin us on the break

Every lower end side has shown the way when it comes to those lot, At all costs you do not play high up and you sit deep, the first 30mins are vital as they love to start games at 100mph
Good post.

We have to go at RS. Otherwise the crowd will be motivated and the players who have been involved in the car wrecks that happened over there in last 20 years will lose their spines again. Schneiderlin is a huge loss. Barry is too slow for their midfield.

Yep, obviously we don't have to go Gung - ho, but we can't afford to sit back and let them get into their stride.

You are probably right. Try to figure out in my head how not to get beat by that lot and season after season we don't get a result. When was the last time we actually looked like we might win over there?

He's not throwing three strikers on the pitch and abandoning any plan of defending, if that's what you mean Davros.

He makes measured changes, everything has a purpose and reason.
Sometines you have to throw the kitchen sink on. That's why he wont rack up the required points.

Dont get me wrong, he's proving himself a decent manager in his first season, but he's way too much of a steady Eddie to get us CL football.

I actually think this is the best of him and without the Lukaku colossus to lean on next season we'll struggle to retain this position of 6th/7th.

This is it in a nutshell, we need to be able to get some wins away from home against the teams above us. So far it's not been great. In that regard a centre half partnership of Jagielka & Williams gives me sleepless nights as does any partnership with Mori.
Yep. We have to start going toe to toe with them in order to get the extra 5/10 points we require.

Virtually every post you make about Koeman has resulted in the complete opposite, so please keep them coming. My personal favorite is how we won't score enough goals.

Not always Dave. Seen plenty of examples during the previous regime where going for it all just simply wasn't the answer.

I also respectfully disagree on the second point. I think he's going to get us there, eventually. No guarantee Lukaku leaves this summer, at least from what I believe, he's going to have another go at it next season.

I know this doesn't fit into your script but there we go.

That was an odd one, I have to say. The 2 goals masked an overly defensive set up imo.

Especially when recently, Spurs have been terrified of Rom.

But this latest trot is good. See how the next 2 games pan out.
It;s an amazing run of form mate. I am really surprised how well they are focussing and keeping on the points trail.

that said, and this is my hobby horse about this lot as you know, the games are non-pressurized. This lot are great technicians on the ball when left to it and aren't under the cosh of expectations. Place them in a pressurised environment and this run of form we're on would not have happened.

Next season (especially without the Lukaku security blanket) will be the real test.

Mourinho is a steady Eddie and he hasn't done too badly.

All away Boro, City and Southampton.

Their last league game? A 1-1 draw against 10-man Bournemouth. No Ibrahimovic and they struggle.

1 point clear and a better GD.
Fair point. Still think we will at least need at draw against them to have a shot
