Ronald Koeman discussion

So what has he done in his first season.
1 defeat at home. No dreading going to goodison this season.
Shipped out 8 and another 8 on loan. We now have a fitter and leaner squad with some good young players coming through.
He says it as it is.

Hopefully he will be backed further in the summer and we can see a stronger and more clinical team next season.

We were building momentum on the counter and Mirallas was a big part of that. The sub was wrong and it invited pressure. We are poor away from home especially against the top teams which looking at the squad is inevitable, but the manager's decisions tonight have cost us two points.

We work hard off the ball and we scrap, that's the only improvement I see in this team under Koeman. He needs to show more attacking substance in his signings, his team selection and tactics if he thinks he can get us into champions league places.

agree, but i look at his options, and bloody hell they're crap options. The fact we're loaning west ham's 5th choice striker says everything. I honestly don't know how we messed up so badly to not bring in one competant striker in two windows and for what seems like the 6th or 7th window in a row i'm going to be saying "we actually need someone really good to share the burden with lukaku". In all that time we've bought niasse, just niasse, in 7 windows where we've needed a striker we bought one and he was a massive flop. I suppose we bought calvert lewin as well, but he was more intended for the U23's when he was bought.

I like Koeman but I'd be happier if I thought he had a definite system in mind. He came with a big reputation and Southampton were a well organised side admittedly.
Everton should be right up there though and I'll be sorry if we don't have a much more streamlined look next term with better quality players in most areas.

Koeman has made good progress this season after the utter mess the spanish charlatan left us in - setting us back years. 7th and an EL place would do for me. Next season is when we need to start knocking on the door of the top four - a big summer if the ambition is to be fulfilled.

well he didn't set us back years seeing as we were 2nd after 5 games and have been a mainstay in the top 7 all season. If he set us back years we wouldn't have been making significant progress straight away ha. But yes, we need to show ambition this summer, this season has been okay for me, we're where we should be given the respective teams. I'd say our squad as a whole is better than the RS, but they've overachieved massively this season so it's a bit unrealistic to have expected better than 7th this season, but that's what i believe is the minimum we should be doing. We can definitely take some big scalps with us next season though, please just don't c*ck up the summer transfer window again please everton.

You're obsessed.

Before you log off, don't forget to dislike a post of mine and tell him how you agree with much of what he says.

You are over reacting Ian. I dislike posts from various posters including Dave. I pull Dave up on stuff too. If I do so a little more with you it's because I don't like the view that the derailing of threads that people go on about is all caused by one poster. And that's IF I do.

I've liked it, but in reality, I'm going to cry, bitch, whinge and moan unless we finish above one of Spur, City, Utd, RS, United or Arsenal. I'll type loads if words on here to prove my dissatisfaction with the club.

In reality we are a brain fart from the start of Nov until mid Dec away from the top four, apart from that we have been brilliantly consistent.

It's because you Bolded the You You bit.

Point is, criticise him by all means, but only if he gets praised when we're doing well.

Which is the normal response, or at least should be.
The team should be built around a player like Ross (or someone comparable but, probably inferior), as it is currently around Rom.
England should do the same but, they won't and will continue to 'not' win things (different to losing things!).
What I'm trying to say is, a player 'like' Ross should always be on the pitch, as you never know when you need a goal.

koeman needs to get mirallas, barkley, lukaku, lookman, calvert-lewin and any other attack minded player in the squad in one room. He needs to spend 2 hours on video's showing them the mistakes they made in that game when on the counter attack.

he needs to then get them on the training pitch and get them to learn how to lay the ball off at the right moment.

he needs to show them how to manipulate defenders movement

he also needs to tell them that this is a team game. teams help each other out. if you see someone who is in space and has a better opportunity to score then lay it off.

far too many times we have players being greedy and messing up counters.

Probably, but it's also the job of our attacking coaches. Football clubs spend millions these days on sports science, specialist coaches for specific positions and roles ... yet footballers still go out there and look like they need their heads banging together. They are all way too selfish and unintelligent tbh and it's cost us what would have been a brilliant win.
