Ronald Koeman discussion

16 wins versus 10 in the league after 35 games is a lot better.

There is a danger of believing we are better than we are, and that our manager is better than he is, by constantly putting the season in context of the last two woeful league campaigns.

It will be interesting to see how many will be tolerant of Koeman if he has a difficult second season. He must feel some pressure to make sure this summers recruitment is the best it can be.

Yeah, such an easy league this...............

He finished 7th with the 7th best team.

Nothing amazing happened, he got us to the position we belong in. Or do you think this season was something only a handful of managers in the world could have achieved ?

So why did the 7th best team finish 11th for 2 seasons?

If its so easy why has Moyes and Koeman only managed to constantly finish "best of the rest"?

Im not saying its an amazing feat, at all, but not all managers could have done what hes done, I honestly think we overlook finishing 7th, take it for granted, of course we aspire for more, but people expect us to finish 7th, as the last 2 seasons proved, its not a gimme, it requires a certain level of management.

Because the previous manager wasn't as good ?

No one said all managers could do it but a large chunk blatantly could.

The fact that I enjoy going the match again to me makes it vastly superior to the last two season's. If you don't win the cup the runs themselves mean jacks##t. Those four places that you just dismiss make a hell of a difference to a lot of us.

Time to refill that half-empty glass of yours.

I guess after a couple of completely listless performances I'm a bit less enthused with the direction we are going.

There is no doubt that we've turned up better at home this season. No argument there.

Guardiola (supposedly the best manager in the world) is struggling to get the league's strongest squad into the top 4. Our team has under performed over the last 2 years, but don't take anything way from koeman's achievement in getting us European football.

He's done a decent job overall this season, fairly sure lots of other managers could have managed the same though.

Apart from the "lots of" bit, I pretty much agree with this.

Koeman's done a pretty good job and has turned us round from the shambles we'd become so I have no complaints, but it's just one season so the real test is if he can improve us from here.

'Achievement in getting us European football'

lol

We lucked into Europe because of the way things played out.

Is that's the case I'm struggling to understand why we're paying Koeman so much money.

You meant this sarcastically, but if he leaves having done little more than a Moyes type job you would be wondering why was he headhunted and why did we pay him so much.

That Moshiri quote about needing a high profile boss to match our other northern rivals was a bit worrying.
