Ronald Koeman discussion

Since we were guaranteed 7th place RK and his team have been an absolute disgrace.

Im starting to have reservations.

We better have a very good summer of recruitment and a good start to next season.
I think before Koeman was trying to win games. He was more flexible in his tactics and allowed players to roam a bit more. Now, he is trying to get the team to play the way he wants them to. He doesn't have the personnel to play a 433 atm. The fact that Valencia was our best option on the right today says a lot.

I'm not talking about what the fans want; I'm simply saying these last few games with nothing to play for are the reason he's bringing on players like Kone.
They should be playing for their future, not to mention the money they get paid, because by the sound of it, Koeman wants shut of a lot of them .

The flaccid end to the season makes me question his ability. I appreciate that we support a team of spineless jellyfish who have zero testicular fortitude, but Koeman's inability to get any tune out of them reminds me of his useless predecessor

So you're doubting his ability because the players went into holiday mode after he got us back into Europe following two bottom half finishes ?

Right.

Is it me or is this team mentally weak ? We don't seem to be resilient away from home but at home are a match for anyone bar Chelski.

Martinez throwback maybe ? Let's hope RK can drive it out with the right signings

The squad Martinez left was a travesty. Completely unbalanced, devoid of any form of leadership, unfit, not enough players at peak age. It's up to RonKoe to change that though and what has been disappointing is that the Everton loser culture and lack of pride has continued. Gueye Williams and Davies have come into the team and played well at times but all collapse in derbies and away games a trait that has been prevalent in the squad for years. Schneiderlin similarly away at Spurs and Arsenal. It seems that whatever new blood we bring into the squad the prevailing loser culture just engulfs them and pretty soon they're performing the same way, the aggression goes, individual goal threat seems to disappear, any traits of leadership disappear. Williams went from a snarling standard bearer for Wales and Swansea to a church mouse for us, Davies was a force of nature when he started, recently he seems to be second guessing what was coming naturally before, Gueye is no longer interested in dominating like he was. This passive lethargic culture has hung over the club probably since we lost the cup final and it's an absolute disease which seems to infect anyone coming into contact with Everton. Koeman's biggest task will be killing it off before it affects him and he starts talking about 'best of the rest, 7th was the target, surprise to be in Europe' oh wait.....

Congrats to RK on a successful first season. He achieved a large improvement over his predecessor while developing youngsters and dealing with several unlucky long term injuries. The home form in particular was great.
We now are where we should be based on our wage level but it's easy to achieve that in theory. He had to do it in practice and reverse the downward trajectory of Roberto in the process.
He has to greatly improve our away form next season amongst other things but, personally, I'm happy that Moshiri made a good choice last summer.

Right.

Why are they going into holiday mode ? In any other line of work the manager would be asked questions over why his employees are slacking off. His or hers ability to motivate them would be questioned... but for some reason you think this isn't something a football manager should be judged on.

Right.

Right.
No . The manager has inherited the slackers so is not responsible for them . His job is to clear out the slackers and bring in people who are not slackers .

In any other line of work at a high level a manager would be held accountable for his staffs lack of motivation... whether he employed them himself or not.

It's not a major thing for me as he got them motivated for most of the season and for the reasons you mentioned I too think it's better to wait until the end of next season to judge but at same time its entirely logical to question someones ability based on their inability to motivate. It's not some weird thing like Brennan made it out to be.
