Ronald Koeman discussion

The flaccid end to the season makes me question his ability. I appreciate that we support a team of spineless jellyfish who have zero testicular fortitude, but Koeman's inability to get any tune out of them reminds me of his useless predecessor

Sexual innuendo in every molecule of that post.

In any other line of work at a high level a manager would be held accountable for his staffs lack of motivation... whether he employed them himself or not.

It's not a major thing for me as he got them motivated for most of the season and for the reasons you mentioned I too think it's better to wait until the end of next season to judge but at same time its entirely logical to question someones ability based on their inability to motivate. It's not some weird thing like Brennan made it out to be.
In the words of someone far more clever than me..." You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear". He's got 7th and a Europa place with a majority of players that finished 11th in the previous two seasons. That suggests he has motivated them better than the manager he succeeded.

Anyone thinking we could have finished higher than 7th is living in cloud cuckoo land. It's been a season of solid progress and fortress Goodison has returned.Basically Koeman has done a great job at sorting out the unholy mess Martinez left behind. On the flip side i thought Koeman would have broken our duck in merseyside derbies and the big away grounds like Anfield Stamford Bridge and the Emirates this season, but he failed dismally on all those fronts. Our efforts in the cups were appalling as well.Koeman has in his first season undone the damage that his blundering Spanish predecessor had caused to Everton, but as i said before the ultimate challenge for Koeman is to win us a trophy, get us into the champions league places, win big matches at the big away grounds and do the business in Merseyside derbies. The real work for Koeman is only starting. My final verdict to summarize the first season under Koeman, is a lot done but a hell of a lot more to do.A busy summer awaits.

If by the end of this window, Koeman has ripped the core out of Martinez's "transfers" and squad, I will be very happy.

We had a team of tryers at best some games, we now need Winners and players that want to be at Everton.

Koeman has his targets, Walsh has been busy with his scouts, we just need to shake the final dying hangers on from the squad and PLEASE get the players in EARLY.

14 points better off then last season, fantastic job of turning us around that is. The last time we improved that much in a season was 2004-05, and he did it with 2 poor transfer windows.
We have moved forward 4 places, we havent progressed that much since we moved 5 places in 2006-07.
Best home record for 28 years im told?
We have scored more goals this season then we have since 1999-00

He has done a great job and things are looking great right now even if the season has been a bit dead since Christmas.

Meh. We had a nice run after the new year when we were out of the cups.

Other than that it was pretty meh. Just goes to show how terrible some of the teams in the league are.

A dreadful end of the season.

tbf arsenal finished outside the top 4 with a record points total in the PL era for not qualifying for CL, so finishing above 7th would have taken some doing, but he knows the areas we need to address and we seem to be getting linked with players in the right positions and most of them of the right quality.

Under moyes that never was the case, i know finances were tight but he never seemed to buy players in the areas we needed strengthening most, we just got whatever bargains were available.

We finished 15 points ahead of Koemans old employers Southampton in 8th place.Last season Koemans Southampton team finished 16 points in front of us.Under Martinez everyone and anyone was beating us and finishing in front of us.So in 1 season we caught up with the garbage sides in the league and left them trailing in our wake.We have finished 8 points behind United in 6th place though. So the table shows us that we are still a fair bit of the elite sides.Pissing past the likes of Southampton and West Brom is one thing but competing with and bettering the likes of Chelsea,Spurs, Man City, Man United, Arsenal and i suppose our noisy neighbours as well will require a lot more time patience and financial resources and spending power.
