This is true. What I will say about this is we were trying to get men up field to support DCL. If we had one of either Lookman or Mirallas to run up field, we wouldn't need to get as many numbers forward to support DCL. Therefore we might have more security against the counter.
We were playing long balls to DCL all night. They would have tried to link with him as he was doing a decent job playing that Fellaini role last night. But you need to get the ball to them. Our passing was the issue.
Basically this. Spurs wouldnt have turned up like that let alone Man Utd or even the RS.More than anything it showed the difference between us and a top 4 team, not only technically but mentally.
No other team in the top 6 would have played the way did last night, so it shows how much we have to improve to compete with them.
We seem to go into the games with quite a defeatist attitude, expect to get beat but hope to come away with something.
Myself, I would have took a point before and If we can get through the next three PL games with similiar results then fair enough.
Basically this. Spurs wouldnt have turned up like that let alone Man Utd or even the RS.
We came there with the mentality of a West Brom or Stoke.
If we'd have gone and attacked all night we'd have got turned over 3 or 4.
And you know it.
It's not about attacking all night. its about achieving some kind of balance. It was pure knife to gunfight tactics and we were fortunate that they went down to 10 otherwise things could have got out of control very quickly. If we'd have gone and attacked all night we'd have got turned over 3 or 4.
And you know it.
You can only take the game to the oppposition if you control the midfield and we didn't at any point in that gameAt this level Everton should have taken the game to city 1 nil to the good and against 10 men, simple as that. It was a Moyes performance and I seen plenty of it last season as well. I hope Koeman has more to his game management than that.
Do you even have the foggiest why he made the changes that he did, both in terms of personnel and team formation?Great insight. Let me ask you a serious question: Do you think Koeman makes the same substitutions after the outcome of the game? I want you to answer honestly.
Yeah the assumption that it makes them easy meat irrespective of their quality is quite astonishingMad how some people think we should attack teams that have less players than us.
I think people are too quick to point at the money spent at City. The money buys the personnel to fit the tactics and talent to create something special but what gave them that dominance was the movement; the fluidity and use of space to dominate possession. Even with an extra man, we didn't have the movement to retain possession. When there are no passes on because we are too static, it becomes a game of hoofball
I did like the way he again pressured the board to keep spending by saying 'if we want to move to the next level we need a striker'.
I mean we can all see it, but he's making it very clear.
Dowell is not ready for PL never mind what Davek says.Yes but at the same time they have already backed him heavily by paying over the odds for Gylfi and I suspect Koeman would have been the driving force behind the Klassen signing. Looks like we would have been better off not signing Klassen, keeping Dowell and then having more cash to address the number 9 vacancy
