Ronald Koeman discussion

I expect a much bette showing against Man U. Let's not forget we were decimat d with injuries and sandwiched in a crucial game at a melting pot the other side of Europe in between the two most difficult away games of the season, and lost 2-0. Owed played city Saturday it would have meant the squad flying out M

yes that's the way it turned out.but if they hadn't been so tired we'd have put up a better show
Problem for me with this is we are supposed to have a squad now to be able to cope with this and rotate. Or at least we would have if we didn't decimate it by selling Barry without replacing and leaving Mirallas out etc.

When we got tonked 5-0 funnily enough our best player was a young lad who had nothing to lose (Davies). Would have been ideal to give one of the young lads a run out ie Lookman or something.

I could see this may happen. Actually, we are very passive in last premier games and scores with quite lucky goal only...
If this performances still continue even we are in middle, RK would also deserve to be sacked.
Sacking our manager is not a decision that should be taken so lightly. I have seen absolutely nothing so far that justifies even mentioning sacking Koeman. The goals we have scored so far haven't been lucky at all. Both our league goals have been fine and we've been full value for both our win Vs Stoke and our draw against Man City. Yes we were poor vs Chelsea but that doesn't even come close to warrant talking about sacking a manager for that.

Unfortunately, a fair number of our rotation selection are injured/not match fit/adapting to the league/suspended.

It's great signing all these new players, but it brings with it different challenges especially if they've never played in England before.

I'm confident performances will improve as the season progresses, unfortunately I think it's a bit early to be expecting free flowing football from a team who are getting to know eachother

They probably spent £140m for 15 years in a row.

Which brings us full circle back to the original point...

Why do Sigurdsson and Rooney pick themselves? Do they complement eachother's skillsets in games like the one on Sunday? I don't think they do. The discussion related to whether we are picking a balanced team which works as a unit, or just shoehorning players into the side. I think you've just backed up the argument that it's the latter.
They've been after both Rooney and Sigurdsson for months. They obviously disagree with you and frankly, so do I. They fit in rather well together. Get a better CF and I think that'll be apparent. Think Ross can fit in with those guys, too, but wonder if we'll ever see that.

I don't understand why some can't get this point. I don't think anyone is overly bothered about losing at the Bridge, it's the manner of it which grates on people, that's the way I see it anyway. Not criticising the start to the season at all, we are ok even if performances aren't great just yet.
Sure, it was frustrating, but the lack of consideration of the rational behind the tactics is annoying. 3rd game in 6 days, several members of the first team out or unavailable, other members not fully fit and certainly not used to playing together, defending champs away, Ronnie was going to park the bus a bit. It's not some blueprint for the rest of the season.

Hmmm we'll see. I doubt he wont do well to be honest but if we have the same season as the last he may walk or golden hand shake out
What would the point be in sacking him for repeating last season? He won't walk because were could he go better then us right now and make as much money? And why would we sack a manager with only one year left running on his contract by the end of this season for having a ok to mediocre year? It took 18 months of rubbish for Martinez to finally get the push and it will take a similar amount of time and run of form for Koeman to go.

It was said on the day Koeman joined that this was a three year project so unless things reach unacceptable levels he won't be going anywhere. IMO Koeman will be gone by the and of 18/19 regardless of how good or bad he has done and only a massive change in fortune one way or the other (either positive or negative) will change that.

Well obviously they disagree with me. That's kind of the point of the discussion isn't it.

You've also missed a rather crucial part of what I was saying. Do they work together in games like Sunday? I have no doubt they can dovetail well when we're trying to break down teams that have parked the bus at Goodison, but do they work together in an away game where you don't see much of the ball and aren't able to dictate the game on your own terms? As far as I could see they were both coming deep to get the ball, meaning we had nobody occupying defenders or going beyond the player with the ball.

But it isn't the first time we have set up like that in away games, that's fact, and no wins away since January tells you everything you need to know.

I also don't believe the fatigue shouts, they have just come back from a summer holiday, are professional athletes and are only 7 games in, no sorry, not buying it. No excuse for not having a shot on target.

I believe we will click, hopefully sooner rather than later but they will.
