Ronald Koeman discussion

What would the point be in sacking him for repeating last season? He won't walk because were could he go better then us right now and make as much money? And why would we sack a manager with only one year left running on his contract by the end of this season for having a ok to mediocre year? It took 18 months of rubbish for Martinez to finally get the push and it will take a similar amount of time and run of form for Koeman to go.

It was said on the day Koeman joined that this was a three year project so unless things reach unacceptable levels he won't be going anywhere. IMO Koeman will be gone by the and of 18/19 regardless of how good or bad he has done and only a massive change in fortune one way or the other (either positive or negative) will change that.
I hope so man!!

But it isn't the first time we have set up like that in away games, that's fact, and no wins away since January tells you everything you need to know.

I also don't believe the fatigue shouts, they have just come back from a summer holiday, are professional athletes and are only 7 games in, no sorry, not buying it. No excuse for not having a shot on target.

I believe we will click, hopefully sooner rather than later but they will.
If they use the 3 games in a week excuse every week we have no chance.

Also want to point out, as I did in the rooney thread, that Rooney has said we cannot use the europa league as an excuse. I agree.

At the moment Fat Head Sam, would stand as much chance of getting the Barcelona job as Ronke.

Imagine Messi, up front, all on his tod, midfield nowhere near him, waiting for the ball to get wellied up to him lol
He'd fall out with Messi and he'd end up joining Madrid

Edit; and every other flair player they have. Del would be fewmin

The fatigue shouts can be put to bed by the very simple fact that we got better as the game went on. Not usually something you see when tiredness is a major factor.

Won't happen. Our match going fanbase is a lot less cringeworthy and reactionary then some of our online cyberwarrior fans. Martinez got a free pass during the whole of 2014/15 and most of 15/16. It's really gonna have to get bad for us to turn on Koeman to that level.
Martinez as has been stated on multiple occasions earned a large level of goodwill for his first season. I see no reason for any real gratitude owed for what Koeman has achieved so far. He's clearly spent substantially more money as well.

It would yes, and I'm not saying we should have played Lookman. I think the concerns I have come from the fact that we have that decision to make in the first place.

Have we signed Sigurdsson, Rooney and Sandro because the manager has specific plans for them, and believes they will work well in the system he wants to play, or have we just signed them because they're good players? Over 12 months into Koeman's tenure I'm still not quite sure what his plan is in terms of a style of play or a preferred formation. It may be that we're just 1/2 players short and with their introduction the whole thing will click into place. Here's hoping.

I would be fairly certain that RK has a plan and knows exactly where Roone Siggy and Sandro will play
This also applies to Klassen and whoever else we sign this window.
The plan may not be successful , it may not work every time , it may get us top 4/5/6 , we will have to wait and see.
But there is no way on gods green earth there is not a plan.
I'd say he's looking at
Siggy left
Klassen centre
Rooney right
Rooney won't play every game so maybe that's where Sandro comes in or else up top if a different type of striker is needed.
Siggy worked well with a big man up front for Swansea and I've a feeling that that's what RK wants this season
It's a matter of getting the right one and not just anyone.
Maybe all ramblings but there is a plan

Yeah maybe I didn't articulate that very well.

Clearly Koeman has some idea of where he's going to play people, I didn't mean to suggest that he would suddenly look at his squad list and go 'WINGERS! Damn, I KNEW there was something else we needed'. What I was getting is what the plan actually entails. Like on Sunday for example, there was clearly some logic he was using to put that team together, but I can't see for the life of me what it was.

You may well be right that he sees us lining up in the way you suggest, but I can't see where that plan gets us in maybe 50% of games, because there's no pace, nobody who really likes to dribble and no natural width. As I said earlier, maybe the arrival of 1/2 more players will make the picture a lot clearer, but at the moment it's difficult to see exactly what our plan (particularly away from home) is.

Mate, it won't happen. Koeman won't be sacked unless this season we are stering relegation in the face. If he had two or three years left on his contract and we showed no signs of improvement then maybe I could see it happening then but with only one last season to go it just won't happen.

Whereas I don't think he will be fired if we have a mediocre season, I could very much see a "mutual consent" thing at the end of it.

I have never got the impression Koeman is intending staying here for one minute longer than the three year deal and I think it significant that nearing halfway through this deal there has been no hint of talks about an extension.

If it is the case he has no intention of staying beyond the three years, I would think Moshiri would have to ask himself, if this season is a disappointment, why he would bother stringing it out for a final year and Koeman himself would not be wanting a sacking on his CV.

Maybe he sees Bolassie and Seamus as wingbacks giving us our pace there
It's still in its infancy and as you say one or two signings and it may all click into place.
We do miss Seamus maurading down the right wing

Exactly.

If Bobby's first season had been like his second one, or even like Koeman's first, the knives would have been out long before they were.

It was the memory of that first season.....the swagger, the style, the renewal of hope we had long yearned for which kept us on side and gave him an extra year.

I can't see him walking away from us while he's got that contract mate. Were could he go right now and earn as much or better money then he is getting here? I can see him going once the third year is over but i dont see him walking out on that contract. For me Koeman was always going to be here for three years, no more and no less regardless of results and the only way that changes is if result get so bad for so long that he gets the sack or we win a trophy and sombody comes in for him. Neither are particularly likely imo.
