Ronald Koeman discussion

Would you have said Martinez was bullying say Shane Duffy by selling him and playing Antolin Alcaraz instead?

I just see that as poor management/a bad decision rather than bullying.

I think Martinez was a wet lettuce and trusted Alcarez' experience rather than use Duffy, whilst Koeman knows he has the power whilst in charge and has shown he isn't afraid to use the kids. If anything it makes him look great the Davies/Holgate/DCL have had decent game time.

I've said it before but how on earth can anyone come to the conclusion that Koeman isn't involved in transfers?

Surely nobody thinks Steve Walsh brought in Martina and Stekelenburg? So if we assume that they were brought in by Koeman, on what basis do we assume that none of the others were? It literally makes no sense.
You can I assume add Schneiderlin and Klaasen to that, and almost certainly Sigurdsson as well.

well yes, that would help, but does not detract from my original point.
It detracts hugely from your original point. If your original point was x, it would be the equivalent of putting -x next to it.

If he'd scored 10 goals so far the entire internet would have crashed under the weight of our lunatic fringe twitterati goading kopites and happy hammers about how we'd secured the world's greatest ever striker for a pittance. His price would be used as a badge of honour, like it is for Coleman. Everybody loves a bargain. The issue is simply that Sandro looks highly unlikely to get remotely close to Lukaku's tally last year. There's no shame in that, and it doesn't make him a bad player, but it explains why people are saying we didn't replace Lukaku.

Nah

My original point was, people said we didn't sign a CF, we did.

Stones did want out, but surely playing under a manager who was the best in his position would have been beneficial? Are you suggesting Koeman and Stones never met?

Say what we wanted about Geri, but he's starting regularly for the best team in the world and did very well in his little cameo at AC Milan. He walks into this team, and Koeman wasn't having any of it.

I agree with Rom completely, just using him as an example.

Stones had made his mind up to go and probably his destination before Bobby was sacked
Geri has been dropped by too many different managers for it to be a coincidence.
Do you honestly believe that Geri is good enough to play alongside Messi and Suarez

I would say Gueye, Lookman and the Henry chap on loan were possibly the type Walsh and the scouting network pickup but the established players must have been more Koemans buys. I would love to know what players they have disagreed on, and what power each has. I would imagine Koeman can veto Walsh's advice on a signing but not vice Versa.
