Ronald Koeman discussion

..from what I hear, he's the token Everton link with the Martinez and Koeman regimes. Apparently he thinks he'll get a crack at the big job one day.

he must be way down the pecking order, unless kenwright gets his way but i'd say even he would realise unsworth is a better bet.

...I think last season's turn around coincided with the introduction of a couple of youngsters, particularly Davies.

Yep.

Kenny is the one for me.

We need width more than anything.

As we have no wingers to speak of (Bolasie is a huge miss), that like to stay wide, we have to find another way of playing.

For me, that's a back three of Holgate, Keane and Jagielka, with two wing-backs.

That also allows us to pack the midfield with a mix of players, and gives us the option of having two up top.

But that system needs width to work.

Despite Moshiri wielding the axe for Martinez, I can't see him being a reactionary figure who gets rid over bad runs. Still think it'll come down to losing the dressing room/prolonged period of abject performances before he'll get rid.

Get to the end of the Burnley run with 1 win or less and then it might become a reality.

Jagielka looks absolutely finished Toff, problem is Williams isn't doing much better either. Agree regarding Holgate needs games at centre back to gain experience there and Kenny would give us the width you mention and has an engine on him.

Things are not looking good - we look slow, unfit, bereft of any tactical plan, we have no confidence and generally crap.

Jags = too slow
Williams = too slow
Besic = crap
Morgs = out of form and looks unfit
Davies = confidence issue will be ace again soon
Rooney = too slow/fat
Gylfi = unfit - needs a few weekends in the mountains with yours truly
Baines = can't provide the width in attack anymore
Holgate = not a RB
Martina = joke of a player
Vlasic = not seen enough of him
Sandro = looks lost and isolated
DCL = Impressive start but needs support
Miralles = not arsed anymore
Lookman = get him playing ffs

The Mutzo solution...

1. Drop Jagielka and Williams and play Holgate alongside Keane
2. Slot Kenny in at RB
3. Keep Baines at LB
4. Gueye, Davies, Schneiderlin in Midfield
5. DCL at CF
6. Vlasic as inside forward
7. Lookman out wide left

subs Gylfi, Rooney, Jags, Sandro, Connolly

Connolly is on loan at Ipswich mate. Apart from that I'd be willing to try any of the above!

Well in Ron...

Good assessment. Although not sure I would play all of Gueye, Schneiderlin and Davies in the midfield. I'd go with 2 of them and since Gueye is our best he would be in, and Davies should be given a chance from the start. Schneiderlin needs to be dropped for a few games.

I think in a three it covers Jags' weaknesses.

For the system to really work though yes we need a left-sided CB.

Another thing that Koeman - in all fairness - wanted, and didn't get.

Our team is like having a good car and wanting to upgrade it , so you buy this awesome spoiler to put on it , install a great looking kit , change the lights , install the latest sound system and then put tractor wheels and a moped engine on it !

I've thought long and hard on Koeman's situation and I strongly believe we need to back him and support the team inspite the garbage football currently on show. Here's why:

1. Unlike Martinez, he does not beat around the bush sugar coating every horrible performance. If he is man enough to apologize and admit we lack aggression, passion and ball possession then I'm convinced he will sort out the mess.

2. My understanding is he is analyzing how the current players adapt and will soon realise we need a different game plan and will not hesitate dropping Rooney, Klaasen to the bench for some time if the balance is better without them.

3. Everyone knows if he can find the right balance then this team is good enough to play counter attacking, possession and physical football. Just need one good striker to fix the puzzle.

4. The fixures have not helped us. This isn't an excuse. A new team, trying to understand the game plan but also trying to understand each other on the field. The results are what we're seeing.

We need a couple of wins at Goodison to instill some belief and confidence in these new players. I feel in a week or so onwards we may finally start our team to shape up. We won't finish better than 7th at max or 9th at worst but if we can manage to do well in cups it'll not be that bad.
When all players are fit this is how we can line up

Pickford
Coleman Keane Jags Baines
Schnides Gana
Bolasie/Vlasic Sigu/D.K/Rooney Lookman/Mirallas
Sandro
Eventually when we get a good target man striker we can afford to ship Sandro out to LW where he likes to drift at times. We can leave out a DM at goodison, put Barkley (if still here) in a deep CM position to carry the ball fwd, then we can play two strikers. Sandro just behind our future target man. Wingers each side and one of the 3 no 10s. I believe Ronny will sort it out.
