Ronald Koeman discussion

If he wasn't Moshiri's beloved big name he would've been sacked by now. The problem is that without being able to sell anybody til January, we don't have the money to do it.

Ridiculous statement.

Why would he have been sacked?

We've lost three games in a row. Before that we'd played six games unbeaten, had 4/6 points in the league and had progressed into the European group stages.

He improved us from 11th to 7th last year so why would he have been sacked?

Is it just me who think Keane needs to up his game, a back 3 of Holgate Keane and Jags/Williams is poor in my opinion, I don't know if Funes Mori would fare any better but I think he may. Maybe loaning Pennington out was also a mistake, we look so weak at the back and the 2DM's just don't offer any protection. I don't know the whole thing is just a shambles.

Got players in early, full pre-season, and look at the state of us.

Bought 3 number 10's making that 4 at the club and failed to bring in a good striker to replace Lukaku, absolute amateur hour in the transfer window from us.

The failure to get a striker is totally on the board/Walsh. It reeks of amateur behaviour.

The failure to know what he wants to do with the team (I'm sure he does, btw, have an idea - but it isn't working so he needs to change) is on Koeman.

It's not the end of the world.

We've lost two league games and okay, our first game of six in the group stage.

However, it's early September and there's plenty of time to fix it.

Issue is, Koeman in the last few games seems to be trying the same thing over and over, whereas at the start of last season he was ruthless in his changes.

Hopefully, last night was - a bit like the Watford game last year - a watershed moment for him.

He has to change it now.

Keane was superb at the start of the season. He's had a rocky patch the last few games as has every other player.

Loaning Pennington wasn't a mistake. He isn't ready.

What was a mistake was not bringing in a left-sided CB - something Koeman publicly said he wanted as well.

Again, like the striker situation, that's on the board.

The players we have signed aren't crap.

I saw enough of them at their former clubs to know that.

Our manager isn't crap either.

In the last three games, his tactics have been abysmal.

To be fair, He said Koeman was average, it's hard to argue with that. He has not done anything in his career to prove otherwise and I will stand by that assessment.

I only said he needs to up his game, I only said maybe Pennington should have stayed, no definite, unlike yourself fine sir who seemingly are never wrong. In my day a CB could play left or right, load of rubbish this LCB RCB nonsense.

I agree with you, but it's a lot more than 3 games. We haven't won away in the league since January.

I don't particularly think that was purely down to tactics though was it?

Middlesbrough away, for example, we created 3 really good goalscoring chances that should have been put away.

It's an issue, but I don't think many games last season that we lost were as much down to the tactics used as they have been in the last few games, if you get me?

If we lose to United by 2/3 clear goals with another toothless performance,I think we'll find out a bit more about our new owner.

Won't be sacking him after united mate as he's got the "difficult opening fixtures" thing to hide behind, despite it being the performances rather than the results which are actually bothering people.

Sacking him would also be an admission that he's moved hell and earth to hire the wrong man, we'll certainly learn if he's afraid to admit that or not if our shocking performances continue.

I'm just playing Davek's advocate.

Seriously though, he should go.

Maybe Moshiri is actually giving his manager a bit of time to get stuff right off the back of progress last season rather than knee jerking after a few bad results to good opposition most of which away from home.

It's worth remembering we're the only team to have even halted City let alone nearly beat them. There's been some good stuff in amongst the garbage. We need to reassess at the end of the season. Unless we go close to going down I can't see any rational argument for firing him.
What has possibly been the good stuff mate? Apart from the first half at home to Split the whole season has been atrocious so far.
