Ronald Koeman discussion

The last time I remember us recording a great win right after suffering a truly dreadful defeat was when we beat City 2-0 after the Phil Neville Wigan cup loss. Like Koeman, Moyes was under more pressure than he'd ever been following that result. Can only hope that, by some miracle, history repeats itself. Can't see it though.

He didn't say it but I bet he is thinking it.

I mean.....put yourself in Koeman's position.

Six million quid a year.....for three years.

The conversation Moshiri had with Koeman and his agent must have been akin to the legendary discussions Peter Ridsdale had with Seth Johnson and his agent at Leeds round about turn of t' century.

But Mr. Koeman.

Gets out of bed this morning and looks in the mirror.

Says to himself......."another humiliation last night.....a visit to Old Trafford on Sunday....:(....."

then he thinks......"well, what is the absolute worst thing that can happen to me if I start screwing up the easy matches"?

And the answer comes in a flash........."I get to walk away with about £10 million after that mug fires me...:pint2:.."

And that's the simple truth of it in the fairy tale, Monopoly money world of pro soccer.

Football management at this level is the best job in the world.....it is the only job I can think of where the rewards for failure are higher than the rewards for success

What a time for Ronald Koeman to be alive
True, but you could just as easily swop Koemans name for any of our 'couldn't care less' first team squad.

I thought the "bedwetters" thing was just a standard joke on here......oh well

Like I said, you are far more passionate about it than I am and I am not saying you are not patient, but my own personal beliefs are that we have seen a big influx of personnel this summer, which might take a little bit of time to get things right.

However, as Koeman has come out directly and admitted he has ballsed up, I take on board what everybody was saying and what their concerns are and he is 100% accountable.

I gave Martinez until October in his 3rd season, I am prepared to give Koeman a little bit more time than 1 month into his second.

And the only reason you gave Martinez "until October in his 3rd season" was because of the splendid first season.

If Bobby's first season had been as dismal as his second one, or even on a par with Koeman last season, you would have been urinating in your pit with the rest of them right about now on foot of the utterly clueless, gutless shambles unfurling before our very eyes, Tom.

You surely would ;)

Played well at OT after the Wembley capitulation in the semi final v the RS.

Came from two down to earn a 4-4 draw.

It always surprises me the manager gets all the blame. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I think the players should be ashamed of themselves. If I get paid what they do man I would be working my ass off every game. What I saw yesterday was pathetic. Looked like they didn't care. Hard to blame a manager for the attitude of players. It doesn't matter if you like your manager or not, if you get that kind of money you give 100% effort every game. If not, pretty disrespectful to the Everton fans who pay good money to come and see you play.
One would argue that making sure players have the right attitude is pretty much vital to a managers job like.

Yep. The role of the manager is pretty negligible when it comes to putting an effort in and having the right attitude.

Thacomment about Martinez perfectly illustrates his mindset, he sees himself as a hired hand. The contempt he is showing to the Board is shocking. I thought before the Spurs game his attitude was all wrong, droning on about The players he never got, that absolutely transmits to the players.
He's a bit of a disgrace to be honest. He needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and earn his money as 'coach'

Them 4 wins coming against a pair of League 1/Championship quality teams and a very unconvincing one v Stoke, the draw at City was without a doubt our best performance all season but our players crapped the bed for some reason instead of taking advantage. All fell apart after that. We lose to Chelsea and Spurs? Fair enough, but the manner in which we lost was absolutely appalling, and the Atalanta game was just unacceptable on every level, considering they're about the level of Leicester and Southampton.

It really has been that poor, especially after spending ~£150m

The money to a point is irrelevant though.

Next summer, £150m may get you 4 players at the rate it's going.

It's about how the team is - well, isn't - gelling.

Koeman's job is to realise why this is happening. Quickly.

Hang on, Kev.

I thought this was a @Moomin special and responded as such.

Are you telling me the far bugger actually said about the compensation?
