What striker when we were positively linked with around the sale of Lukaku?
He should been signed on the day he left - no RK went on one signing players who filled the no 10 shirt - Rooney, Klassen, and eventually 45 million on Sig!
A total waste of money by the way I am certain Lukarkus add ons pay Rooney 150 k wages for two years - total 15 billion we have been had!

I dont think the players came in, in any particular order, it seems we just failed with the most important one hopefully we
correct this in January and climb the table. I think we will. Koeman will sort this

Get a clue Joey, the manager doesnt buy the players.

The players are still giving their all for the team/manager. The performance against united was much better. We were well in the game for 82 mins and it was just an unfortunate individual error that cost us. There are just a few teething problems with the new system. Things will improve.

Not having that.

The unfortunate error was also made by Keane, Jagielka and Pickford earlier in the game. Similar basic passes in dangerous areas. We got very lucky that it took them that long to punish us for it.

Our passing is awful, mainly because there is nobody to pass too most of the time as we are so static and our players seem confused as to what they are supposed to be doing.

Also there is zero point playing well for 82 minutes if the other 8 are hideous.

I only saw his post-match presser now but to concede in that manner that we are no better than 7th again is shameful.

Investment and money is important but its not all about that. Even if RK thinks we can do no better, he shouldn't admit it to the world.

Just another message to the players and fans that failure is acceptable, and don't dare hope for too much.

I get that the likes of Utd are better all over the park than us, but now and then it would be nice to get an unexpected result against them and the likes. It's possible rather than probable mostly, but it doesn't take a miracle.

Hard work, passion, organisation, clever tactics and good team selection still count for something surely.

Just a continuation of the line spouted consciously and sub-consciously by nearly everyone at the club for more than a generation.

Hardly surprising then seeing our record against sides above us - most soon be approaching 1 win in 100 against the top six away.

What a dreadful message to send out about Everton, and so soon after a period in which hopes were raised.

1 win in a hundred against the top 6? Mate we battered city last season and also beat arsenal. The records bad enough without loony exaggerations

Lads, he isn't getting sacked yet, cool your jets.

Not even a quarter into the season yet and so many want change NOW! it's so Geordie esque it is painful.

We have played 5 league games. We did OK last season, we have signed a shed load of new players and he needs to get them playing together and needs to do it sharpish.

The performances have been poor, we all agree on that. Have you never seen a team go through a bad run before? Is this all new to you and alien? Because it happens in football.

The last thing we need is hostility, times like this require a bit if unity, god help some of you if you run into a real crisis in your lives.

No we didn't, and nor did I say we did. I said it is realistic for us to challenge for the top 4, as we did 3 years ago. Are you suggesting that being 4th with 4 games to play does not qualify as challenging for the position? Very harsh.

You didn't. Thought you said Everton finished top 4. I misread that part, I apologize.

So if the title contenders can have a bad year in 2015, why can't they have one in 2018? Why would it be impossible for us to challenge the top 4 this season, on the basis that they may have a similarly bad season? Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs have all shown serious weaknesses already this year so why could a side not do what Leicester did and take advantage of that?

Because they already showing that they won't this season. Man City look fantastic, so do United (Everton actually played well against both). Chelsea and Spurs have weaknesses, but I don't see other sides above them even with those weaknesses. Although Spurs seem to have a real problem with Wembley. There just isn't a Leicester this year.

I'm talking top 6 because the top 4 is fluid and changeable. United weren't in it last year but I expect them to be this year. They are the 6 clubs which people talk about as title contenders and so it makes sense to use them as a comparison.

Fine, but I was talking about top 4, which I don't think is realistic. Top 6 however I agree with. I don't rate Arsenal and Liverpool.

Finally, but most importantly, if a side which had only been promoted a season earlier and had very nearly been immediately relegated, was miles ahead of this expensively assembled Everton team, it simply highlights how badly we have been managed.

Who are you talking about? You're talking current standings? After 5 games?

So all in all, not a great post mate.

Awww, I'm hurt.;)

He chose to spend 45 million on another no 10:blush:

Personally Joey, I think Sigurdsson is a player we needed, because of the Barkley situation.

I'm not blaming Ross or anything, but since he wanted/wants out (and is injured) we did need another creative player.

The main worry is Koeman maybe not knowing how to get the best out of him just yet...

That being said, we'd see a much better output from Gylfi if he was given somebody to provide for up top, rather than having to play as a CF himself!

That's why I can't understand the logic in spending so much on a player like Gylfi, but not following that up with a striker.

And that is on the board.

I think we looked awful again.

Yeah we had some of the ball but there was still no attacking threat and some of our passing was horrible.
Don't agree. I thought we played well for most of that game yesterday and should have been level before Williams error lead to the game effectively ending in the 83rd minute.

It was certainly an improvement on what we've served up in the last few weeks.
