Ronald Koeman discussion

Everton boss Ronald Koeman, speaking to MOTD: "Calm after the game, yes. There were a lot of emotions. It was a difficult game, we did not create many chances and we took the right decision after 1-0 down to try something different - play two strikers and go more direct.

"More credit to the players - Niasse and Davies. They did a good job after a difficult time. The boys showed great character.

"He [Oumar Niasse] is bringing more aggression. We needed in the second half to have another striker close to Dominic to press a bit better than we did before. All the credit to Oumar Niasse, that is all about life. If you get your chance you need to take it. He took it on Wednesday and again today.

"It is a totally different world after winning. You have key moments during the season and this was a big win that will give everyone a boost."

It's everything to do with it

You're saying that if a manager sees things aren't working and then uses subs to correct them then he shouldn't get any credit for it

I've given you a clear example of why that suggestion is a load of arl arse

He made three subs and all three players were key in the winning goal

Job done

It's totally not true tho it's just utter fluke that we scored two goals via the subs it's got nothing atall to do with koeman being a tactical genius and knowing what he was doing! Don't and won't agree here mate sorry.

I kind of agree with that actually.

Koeman is getting a lot of stick for banishing him from the squad but he said a few weeks ago that he didn't need Niasse last season (and he didn't really..) whereas this year things are a bit different.

He could have easily left him out in the cold and never played him as a load of our fans had marked his card already as being a competition winner etc so would not have bat an eyelid if he never played for us again.

Koeman has swallowed a bit of pride here which I reckon would be hard for someone like him (history of being a winner etc) and gave the lad some praise after the match as well so lets hope we all benefit from it. What has happened in the past doesn't really matter now.

I think Koeman was ordered by Moshiri to include him in the squad if I am honest with you, Papa.

I agree the past doesn't matter now.....but I think Koeman has dropped another clanger by leaving him out the EL squad.

What an opportunity Thursday night would have been for an in form striker to kick on again.

Koeman wouldn't take that. No chance. He does not strike me as the type to be dictated to regarding on field stuff.

Yeah the Europa League is a shame. He has scored goals in the competition before (as I always banged on about when defending the lad) so it does seem a waste. I can only assume we thought another striker coming in was nailed on.
