Ronald Koeman discussion

"...always difficult to get players of quality in January, blah blah blah".

Maybe we will, maybe we wont. Just saying, his words dont give the impression we will.

Martinez was one of the biggest pedlars of 'it's difficult to get quality players in Jan'...

I think it's too early to judge either way.

I think there'll still be a few signings, but I wouldn't expect a big overhaul.

I feel this could be a telling game to shape our season, win and we are probably top half, lose and we could be bottom half finishes.

Taking a simplistic view of things.

Which other clubs?

How well did it work out for Arsenal?

Spurs / City / Arsenal / Monaco / Dortmund / Bayern / Schalke etc etc etc

Check out this report for some names of players signed by top sides...most have been picked up.

Arsenal have managed to do it on the cheap with Fabregas and now Bellerin costinf £1mil or less...im talking about signing players for BIG money like the Germans are starting to do with Dembele, Embolo and a few more.

Martial is really paying United back on that 50m they paid isnt he?

LOL

Stones and Sane are giving City a great return on that 100m?

Look Martinez tried your way, it gave us 2x11th place finishers, young players dont perform ALL the time, we need players that can hit the ground running. Walsh is already picking up a few young uns.

Martial has a 1 in 3 strike rate for UTD and is only 20 years old...

Stones is a first pick at centre back for the top team in the league, Sane is adjusting to the league.

How did Martinez try it this way? The only player of top quality u21 he signed for decent money is Lukaku...if he had had the cash to sign 2 a season at top quality rather than needing to fill many positions it would be a different story

Good luck attracting these young talented players tho by the way, Carvalho is still laughing his arse off.

Why would most of these young "stars" leave clubs in which they play in the CL and win Titles to come and fight for 5th place at Everton?

Martinez signed Geri, who currently cant get his place in the team ahead of Mirallas and Bolasie cos hes a selfie obsessed little twerp, maybe in a few years he will get it.

Koeman has the right attitude with regards young players, the majority of them arent worth the effort.

Martinez signed Deulofeu for £4.2mil and was magical for 1/2 last season. Imagine if we didnt have him...wed have been much lower down the league and Lukaku would have hardly scored if Mirallas was played instead or Lennon lol

Didnt Dele Alli join Spurs when they werent in champions league...for bigger money signings look at Germany where the top sides all have brought in youth as a mainstay.

Also, Carvalho is 24 years old.

He's done pretty well so far. 18 points from 10 games. Granted 7 of those games have been against teams in the bottom 9 so we've have a kind fixture list compared to the rest, but there's not much to complain about with the team sixth in the table. He's a massive step up from that chancer Martinez.
Let's see where we are last whistle of the season. If we're where we are now, he's come in and done a good job. If we're 7th or 8th it's the minimum where I expect a manager pulling in £6M per season to have us.

Done nothing whatsoever so far. He needs to have pressure placed on him to achieve.

Showed good in game management once again, wish he could get it right from the start occasionally like.

After that first 20mins we bossed it I thought certainly 2nd half and I've no problem shutting up shop at 2-0.
