Ronald Koeman discussion

So he told Mori that he wasn't in the team because others were doing well in his position. He kept true to that last weekend by playing Mori after Jagielkas disastrous form. So it'll be a massive undermining of that approach he promised Mori if this weekend he's benched after playing in a winning team against WHU.

Let's see what happens first, Dave.

It boils down to whether or not people think we have the players to get higher than 7th and to me we don't.

Results have us on track to finish roughly about there, and that will be tested with a run of more difficult games.

I have been underwhelmed with our standard in most of the games but we did finish 11th two seasons running. I'm not sure to what extent people expect better.

Results are ahead of performances and that to
me is a very positive indicator. I hope the expectation levels people have of Koeman are
also there for the board - January will be difficult but in 10 months the colour of their money will be there for all to see or otherwise. I won't be accepting any excuses then if significant investment hasn't been made.

RK has a patchy record as manager in his career to date but he did exceedingly well at Soton under very difficult circumstances. My hope is that the English game suits his style and approach and that given proper backing, he can in time do better here than at Soton. Better would suggest we would be in or around a
CL place in a year or two. If Spurs can do it so
can we.

Each to their own mate, doesn't mean I don't rate Koeman, but Klopp and his style of play have been really good (unfortunately) I'm still harbouring hopes that he can't get the to do it over a 38 game PL season, as he struggled to a Dortmund despite a less competitive league and 4 games per season less.

They can't defend. I'm not saying that's Klopp's fault, but he hasn't addressed it (or can't).

They play exciting stuff but look what Utd did to them.

Get in their faces and scare them early on, you've won half the battle.

Look mate I don't want to get into an argument, but you didn't seem very happy after this game:

Not that you were fumin or anything, but you didn't seem very happy that we won.

Anyway...Koeman. I have only been disappointed in one match...the draw at City.

I mean it was a good result, in fact with the way we played it was a, *clears throat*, phenomenal result.

I hope that's not the way we play going forward versus the better teams in the league.
Links not working what game was that?

Villa 1st March last season.

Your post game comments were not those of someone enjoying a win.

Link works for me BTW.

Again, not trying to turn this into an argument...that was the first game I peeked at BTW...I did not do any further research.
I was simply trying to quell any over reaction to the victory, I'm sure that was the 'God bless you Roberto Martinez' game.

Villa were the worst team in the history of the league.

Why/how did you pick that one out?

I only ask as I looked at that one also and thought to myself 'I hope he doesn't check this one'

A win against relegation fodder after a tough spell...just seemed ripe for it.

Was it that game when he said that...I thought it was a better one. That was a top notch cast of the rod and reel hahaha.

Just for context that was just before West Ham and Arsenal at home. A point I made in the villa thread, that 'tougher games were coming'

And we all remember what happened.

Apart from these
Ajax
Benfica
PSV
Valencia
AZ
He's been here less than 6 months ffs; let's see what it's like at the end if the season and put the daggers away

Johan Cruyff shield and that thing he won at benfica are basically charity shields mate.

If you remove those and bear in mind his Cup win at Valencia was not celebrated by the club or fans then you've got a very similar, if not inferior trophy cabinet to De Boer and Cocu.

It's all good man...I'm not gonna dig through the vaults. I reckon I could find more evidence.

We're doing OK so far under Koeman, but really it's not been great, and I think everyone would admit that. I think it's fair game to criticize him for the City performance (certainly not the result).

He's got an improved squad from last season, and we're seeing some improvement. Gana has been a revelation in the midfield, and Williams has fixed the errors of young John Stones.

Trophy cabinet, Frophy Smabinet.

Koeman get's 7 million a year to manager in the Best League in the World (Trademarked)
Cocu is at PSV, a league nobody cares about.
De Boer will be back at the Jobby on Monday, begging his brother for a few tweets about West Brom and Stoke.

Still love you Frank xx
