Ronald Koeman discussion

He has to accept some responsibility, of course, but you can't hang the entire thing on him. I won't criticize him on his signings because that last transfer window was a cock up on all levels. Williams and Bolasie might turn out to be good buys but we will only be able to judge over the season. IMO, they were panic buys though.
If, after the next 2 transfer windows, we are still getting these types of results and performances, then I will place the blame at Koemans feet.

The spine of this team have a history of bottling it. They have to be phased out as quickly as possible if we are going to see any success.

Williams - great signing, in no way a panic.

Gueye - same as Williams.

Bolasie - he's frustrating and inconsistent. He's already created the most clear-cut chances in the league though and is our top assister.

I meant panic buys in the sense that, if we had not missed out on other targets and were running out of time with the Stones money burning a hole in our pocket, they were never in a million years our first or even second choices.

Doesn't mean I don't rate them though. Once again, only 11 games in to the season.

I know for a fact that we agreed the Williams deal a week before we sold Stones mate, so pretty sure he was high up on the list of candidates.

Gueye signed about a week or two after Walsh (who had tracked him for Leicester before signing Kante) arrived...

Fair enough, if you can swear by that fact, regarding Williams. Gueye, I am happy with. You could never convince me, though, that Bolasie is not a gamble (not even talking about the price here). If he produces more good games than bad, then I will be the first one to hold my hands up.

I can and have mate.

Maybe he wasn't our first choice at the start of summer, but we got that deal done quickly and if not for Swansea renegading on an initial agreement, it would have been done sooner.

I think that Bolasie is definitely a gamble. But so far I think it's one that in relative terms has paid off.

Saturday was the first 'bad' (as in, he did f all) game he's had - but he wasn't exactly exclusive in putting in a shoddy performance.

Not disagreeing with anything you say, but I will reserve judgement on certain things until the tail end of the season.

Don't know if posted, but made me laugh anyway

We put in the mother of cagey performances to come away with a result at Man City, and you were fuming. lol

Cagey means cautious mate. That's different to cowardice.

Chelsea were exceptional in every department. As bad as we were they were incredible.
By the time Koeman changed from 3 at the back we were two goals down against a team what doesn't concede goals. Their 3 centre backs hardly crossed the half way line making any counter attacking impossible and we had essentially only 2 midfielders in Ross and Cleverley (less said about him the better) because Coleman, Oviedo and Barry had to spend the entire game defending.

Koeman, in my opinion got several things wrong but Chelsea were so good i don't know if any other formation or starting line-up would have fared any better. With Barry now suspended and Cleverley showing once again he is the footballing equivalent of the ebola virus, hopefully we'll see the manager give the likes of Tom Davis a run out because we seriously lack legs in that midfield.

Well I dont know why he changed anything tbh, unless it was to keep the score down. Because he said post match that at 2-0 down he "knew it was over". Which is nice to know after half an hour of a game.

Is Kev more consistent though?

Yes I genuinely think so, I agree with the majority he isn't the best in the world, but I think he is the most consistent of the three.
I would even consider dropping ross deeper against Chelsea and having kev behind Romelu with lennon right and Bolasie left, I think that would of given us better chances against Chelsea than what we seen on Saturday.
I feel that Koeman is changing is mind all the time, I don't mind him doing so if we only have say 5 games left and Europe is out of our reach but whilst we had a chance of breaking the top four, I think that its already gone given the current run of form.

Kev central is the way to go if he's to perform, IMO, as out wide he just drifts out of the game.

I've always personally seen Kev's consistency as a weak point, but opinions ey.

Agreed he is inconsistent, but like I said im comparing him to the other two :)
Having a go centrally with lennon and yannick or yannick and Delboy could be a good move, leave the four up top to counter attack and let the midfield and defence do their job, it wont always work but it will give Koeman an idea of who can do their job properly, he may then decide to get rid of a few of them based on what we have seen for say the last two years.

Oh god, have we got to play Chelsea again next week?

Problem with mirallas now seems to be he's lost that electric burst of pace he had, which on about 90% of his goals is what created the chance, maybe one hamstring injury too many taken its toll but no longer looks dynamic, combined with delefeou s form being in the toilet and Lennon not being good enough leaves us with basically just a very erratic bolasie producing anything, throw in Baines constant injuries and Coleman being a bit meh for two years now and we have problems wide creating anything, which puts massive pressure onto Rom and Barkley every game.
