'His brand of football gets us the same as what we can probably get this year, 5th - 7th'

Yes. I was replying to the idea we'd break into the top 4 with a bit of spending. My reply is that we wont due to his brand of football.

He should get us 7th this year. Over the next few years, I'd expect he'd deliver finishes between 5th and 7th.

That better?

Problem with mirallas now seems to be he's lost that electric burst of pace he had, which on about 90% of his goals is what created the chance, maybe one hamstring injury too many taken its toll but no longer looks dynamic, combined with delefeou s form being in the toilet and Lennon not being good enough leaves us with basically just a very erratic bolasie producing anything, throw in Baines constant injuries and Coleman being a bit meh for two years now and we have problems wide creating anything, which puts massive pressure onto Rom and Barkley every game.

a year ago West Ham offered us £6mil for mirallas which i thought was insulting...now id snap their hands off

Few called him the Dutch Moyes and I think that is what we have got.

Have to wait and see though, if he can put down some solid foundations and sort out the mess he's inherited he will have done his job and we can bring in the next manager who will then hopefully take us to the Champs league...

I predict we will finish unbeaten in the league at home, or lose just 1-3 games. I think he will turn our home form around which would have been one of the main objectives. We will know more after the run of three home games against Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool in December. We are sniffing around the European places so it's not all doom and gloom.

It would seem things are not too clever at the moment. But let's offer a word of thanks to Roberto for signing and saddling us with a good deal of crap.
I was more than happy to see him go after a season plus of zombie-taka, but I don't think you can say he signed a load of crap, it was widely lauded as the best team since the 80's last year.

Me, I looked at Niasse!, not that keen on Lennon, Extended contracts for Osman and Hiibert(n) (waste of wages), Cleverly, Kone.

Indeed.

One of the charges laid against Roberto last season and which I subscribed to from Hammers at home onwards was that he was incapable of getting the best out of what the vast majority on here regarded as a very talented squad.

But now that our new manager actually has the team playing worse than it was this time last year we are being told Bobby had in fact assembled a "crap" squad so poor old Ronald cannot be held to account for the generally boring, increasingly awful and as of last Saturday totally gutless style of play we have witnessed since the referee blew the whistle to start the second half in the Spurs game on opening day.

The kindest thing I can say about the Koeman era, more than a quarter of a season in, is that if he did indeed inherit a "crap" squad then he has only succeeded in making it worse.

:(

I think it's far too early to make that judgement, unless you think that Southampton had a substantially better squad than Everton last
season.

They played some very good football pretty consistently, despite the squad being stripped in the transfer market in the seasons leading up and during to his appointment.

He did a good job there and I don't think he's suddenly become a poor coach. Let's give him time.

Klopp didn't look too flash early on at Liverpool, did he?

Nah mate just shows the difference for me in taking over a squad in dissaray compared to one that was left steady.

Mourinho struggling at United, even Conte had a bad wobble at the start of the season - Klopp last year - cups aside was pretty terrible, give Koeman 25-30 games and another transfer window then we will be able to judge it a little more clearly
