Ronald Koeman discussion

Koeman like the other managers mentioned have all struggled initially with better squads than ours, that is the point. I find it risible that because of his wage you expect him to have everything sorted 12 weeks in. If it was relatively easy to have us playing better, the previous manager could have done it 2 years ago and still be at the club.

There is an old saying in employment circles......"if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys".

Well, we are not paying peanuts, my friend.

Quite the reverse.

Yet at the moment our performances appear to be orchestrated by a monkey :pint2:

Indeed.

One of the charges laid against Roberto last season and which I subscribed to from Hammers at home onwards was that he was incapable of getting the best out of what the vast majority on here regarded as a very talented squad.

But now that our new manager actually has the team playing worse than it was this time last year we are being told Bobby had in fact assembled a "crap" squad so poor old Ronald cannot be held to account for the generally boring, increasingly awful and as of last Saturday totally gutless style of play we have witnessed since the referee blew the whistle to start the second half in the Spurs game on opening day.

The kindest thing I can say about the Koeman era, more than a quarter of a season in, is that if he did indeed inherit a "crap" squad then he has only succeeded in making it worse.

:(
Whilst I agree with most of your post mate I do feel its quite hard to criticise Koeman so far, the one thing that was evident from the latter two years of Martinez's rein was how porous our defensive unit was and how weak mentally the team seemed to be . He has ( to some degree and Saturdays game not included ) addressed the former by making Us far more solid with more men behind the ball, with the effect of reducing our threat going forward. As always football is a balance and Koeman may/may not achieve that perfect blend but its still too early for me to get excited one way or another.

So to reiterate my original point, because he is paid a large sum of money you expect him to have our team higher than 7th after 11 games in? I would respectfully suggest if he could turn this train wreck of a team round after 11 games he should be on double the amount.
