Ronald Koeman discussion

But that conveniently leaves a big massive gaping hole in the middle of all the things he could have said doesn't it? It's not like he had to either say 'no chance he's leaving' or 'I'd probably go if I was him', there's literally a million acceptable, diplomatic ways of answering the question but he's chosen to talk the club down. It's not offensive, it's not the end of the world, and very few people are saying it is. It is, however, totally unnecessary and dispiriting for an already disillusioned fanbase.

It's probably accurate to say that we have absolutely no chance of qualifying for the Champions League or winning a cup in the next 3/4 years, it's probably accurate to say that we'll struggle to get more than 5/6 points from our next 6 games - but would you be happy if the manager came out and said so? I wouldn't, and I don't see why this situation is any different.

He didn't say 'I'd go if I was him though'?

"I think he can emulate Patrick Kluivert, who also rose to prominence at a young age and enjoyed a fantastic career.

"He eventually played for Barcelona and I can see Lukaku doing the same.

"Everton should normally not be the end for him.

"Romelu will not have made the most of his career if he plays for Everton for the remainder of his career.

"He has the potential to play for a bigger club than Everton, but nobody knows what will happen after this season."

I just don't see what the fuss is about.

good riddance. If Koeman doesnt want to achieve his ambitions at Everton, we may as well cut it short than prolong.

Moshiri has a plan after all

A man with as plan, indeed.
Rooney next manager, Bill crying and shaking as he welomes home the one he had to let go, no more dark rooms for Bill.
Rom sold, Rooney puts on his boots to save everton from the drop, scores last minute of the last home game....the golden days are ahead of us.

I don't normally post here, but these comments have really wound me up. It's part of Koeman's job to 'promote' (for want of a better word) Everton, not to make damaging comments which belittle the club.

My worry is that he's made a few similar comments which have flown a little bit under the radar - stuff about when Everton play the 'big clubs' etc.

Now I know we're not the biggest of the big these days, but for me, it just shows a complete lack of understanding of what Evertonian's expect, or where we aspire to get to.

Why on earth shouldn't we be aspiring to be the next Barcelona? Not now, but in 5 or 10 years from now? What is wrong with having that level of ambition?

Comments like this, the other 'big club' comments mentioned above, and Koeman's general manner; all seem to suggest to me that he see's Everton as simply a stepping stone for himself and some of the players.

To be blunt; I think Koeman see's himself as bigger than Everton already.

You really dont get it do you. All the sentences are pretty crass, the last one thuogh..

"He has the potential to play for a bigger club than Everton, but nobody knows what will happen after this season."

is like saying Everton will never get better than what we are at the moment. Where is the enthusiasm and belief that we can match Lukaku as his career grows ?

Honesty is great when combined with saying something that is aligned with the clubs general
interests. In this case it just puts down the club when there was no need.

It can't be honesty all the time, to me that is
a lack of tact. Nobody wants constant guff, but you have to engage in a bit of positive spin and propaganda, it does serve a purpose at times.

Managers are in the media glare constantly, it's
a delicate balancing act sometimes but it's good
judgement knowing when you should say nothing. He should have said nothing here.

Then he leaves on the final whistle to take over from Mourinho at United.

We sold to buy again this season. Our best player signed was Yannick Bolasie. Our first choice midfielder is 36.

We aren't exactly going to be title contenders any time soon!

Laughed a lot at this for some reason

Probably because right now aside from Lukaku,we don't have one champions league quality player in the team. We are years away from the CL. We're at the start of our 'project'(assuming there is one , of course.)

Nonsense mate, we have loads, we just don't have a Champions Lge quality team. We do have loads of Champions Lge quality players hough, many of whom have played in it before and players who if they left us could sign for clubs who play in it now.
