Nonsense mate, we have loads, we just don't have a Champions Lge quality team. We do have loads of Champions Lge quality players hough, many of whom have played in it before and players who if they left us could sign for clubs who play in it now.

For sure.

Many of them would walk into the Celtic team

Who do you think we have that are CL quality apart from Rom?

CHeers Terry

Not sure why people are surprised tbh

Just look at the way he shafted Southampton .

Doesn't concern me tbh , he'll clear up Martinez's mess and leave us in a stronger position in 2 to 3 years time

good riddance. If Koeman doesnt want to achieve his ambitions at Everton, we may as well cut it short than prolong.

Moshiri has a plan after all

This was Southampton's view and why, he ended up here.

“My first option was to continue at Southampton, to do my last season of contract, but it was not possible,” said Koeman.

“They said it’s not good because we like to know the future. I said it was not a problem because I signed three times a one-year contract with Feyenoord in Holland.

“Then the whole Everton story came out and the interest and also the interest from my part.

“Les Reed said to me that it was not possible to go through my last year of contract without knowing what would happen after. That made it more difficult.

“At the same time Everton was showing interest. Southampton gave me permission to talk to Everton and now I am the new Everton manager.”

Lets hope he gets his wish and ends up at Arsenal, Barcelona or elsewhere - it'll mean he has done well here.

The bit I find worrying though is long term planning - at least on the pitch - could be abandoned for short term. I think we saw that in the market, proven established premier league players coming in - Bolasie, Williams and even Gueye.

Also we've finished 11th the last two seasons.

Our team is nowhere near as good as some think it is
This in no way should be used as an apology for the manager of Everton Football Club coming out in public and saying what he has said.

Whether we are Champions League quality, Europa fringes, relegation battlers. No way whatsoever should it excuse his lack of ambition shown publicly, nor his public acceptance that our most valuable asset cannot flourish at Everton.

Not overly impressed with that tbh. If he's been told to talk up his value for a sale then fair enough, but we should be looking to hold onto him until the summer at least to see where the squad falls in Koemans expectations

You really dont get it do you. All the sentences are pretty crass, the last one thuogh..

"He has the potential to play for a bigger club than Everton, but nobody knows what will happen after this season."

is like saying Everton will never get better than what we are at the moment. Where is the enthusiasm and belief that we can match Lukaku as his career grows ?

It's not though? It's like saying that Everton aren't ever going to be as big as Barca - which is the club he directly references?

Would Ronaldo have fulfilled his career had he never left Utd?

Would Bale had fulfilled his potential had he stayed at Spurs?

He hasn't said that!!!!!

Which is what we need(ed) to improve though...

'Long-term planning' is great, but to do that successfully you need to bring in players of quality/in their prime to set a level (e.g. get us back into the top 6/7 - which is the aim).

Long-term planning is next to useless if you're finishing 11th season after season.

Koeman is on the inside and us fans sit on the outside.
Koeman has been to the top of the mountain and seen the other side whilst we live in la..la land pretending the club will be something.
