Ronald Koeman discussion

"It has been taken out of context." Moshiri told talkSPORT host Jim White.

"Ronald Koeman said he believes Romelu will develop into one of the best strikers in the world in the next two to three years and wouldn’t be out of place at his old club, Barcelona.

"It is just player-coach talk."

lol

To be fair, it's all Moshiri could say. If he was going to address it the only thing he could say is play the lost in context card.

I think that's a nonsense mind, similar to his Sissoko bobbins but he's Koeman. He does what he likes and Moshiri isn't going to pull up his 'megastar'.

Which is worrying if he can get away with anything he likes.

True this, no one with any sense can write him off, these comments to me mean nothing, what is important is what happens on the pitch, get that right and he or anyone else can talk as much rubbish as they want.

This is more or less true, which is why the timing of said comments made it worse. It's like being punched in the face on Saturday, then kicked in the balls on Wednesday and the media and fans from other clubs laying the boot in while we are on the ground.

Is this Talksport thing daily now?

Absolutely shocking comments to be honest. This fella is paid 6m pounds a year to manage the team, not feed players' egos and tell them they're too good for us and should look to move. I mean, wtf? I'm not a fan of Koeman's character and the way he deals with the press, that much I can say. Just hope he can move us up the league, but I guess being asked to sell before he can buy is going to make that quite unlikely. If he's lucky he might get us a top half finish, but nobody would really be arsed about us finishing 10th now, would they? Might as well finsh 15th.

in previous years there would have been silence from the club for several days after a story like. I suppose it's positive (if that's the right word) that straight away the owner have jumped on it to offer an explanation.

I'm not very happy about all this.

Earlier I sat back and thought, maybe we are seeing the brutal realism of today's football. A vicious part of the entertainment industry full of mercenary players and managers, who are probably wetting themselves at how the mass public and media love it and feed it to grow.

The days of loyal players, managers, and competing by just being a good team are finished, and many, me included, romanticise the days when Everton were kings by "doing it the right way".

Long story short, jump on board or start following Kabaddi.

As long as Everton exist I'll be happy. But I'll tell you one thing that I fundamentally do not agree with regarding players and managers, and this is directly to them.

Do not ever run up to us the fans celebrating like you have done it for us. You haven't you tits. You did it because you are paid to. Go and roll round with your merc mates in the centre circle when you score. Don't run over saying look at me ffs.

Then I won't give two hits about what you say on local telly, in the papers, on social media, or to your mates. Same for the manager.

Let's at least agree on where we stand, as right now your messing with the thing I love.

Cheers.

Koeman should just have said " Roms boss, we all know it, but he was gash in the semi last year and sometimes he can be one lazy get, but his goal record can't be sniffed at.."
No. Thats what we should say. Koeman should be saying that Rom is an important member of our squad and the club will be doing everything we can to keep him here beyond next year and build our team around him.

Is @Dutch Toffee still active?

I've had a look at the original interview and done a Google translate on it, and it doesn't seem to say quite what the papers are saying.... would be interesting to have a Dutch person give their thoughts on it though.

Interesting that the headline on the interview is, Koeman: "Kluivert has arrived at Barcelona Lukaku Why not.? when you consider Moshiri's response.

Ronald Koeman, one of the most seasoned former internationals Orange will curious tonight following the Derby der Lage Landen. Hit Points enough. As coach of Everton he hopes 'his' striker Romelu Lukaku to see the work, and coach Roberto Martinez was Koeman as trainer for Everton. HLN.be could speak Koeman as the face of an anti-smoking campaign.

Ronald Koeman is committed as an ambassador for "Kick it with Help. Along with the football artists F2 Freestylers and the biopharmaceutical company Pfizer he launches a video and message that should encourage smokers to seek professional help if they want to stop. The campaign establishes a link between football and stop smoking: both require motivation and a coach. "And when smoking can coach, a caregiver, you increase your chances to actually stop smoking," said Koeman.

Why commit yourself for the anti-smoking campaign?
"When you coach young players in football, health is the basis for good performance. But I am even more against smoking by a number of events, including the breast cancer story of my wife. She smoked and is immediately stopped when it was discovered. and then there was Johan Cruyff, my coach at Barcelona, who got his 45th heart problems by smoking, and is then stopped. This has do be aware that you should stay away from me there. When they approached me to be an ambassador for the anti-smoking campaign, I wanted to act for it. "

also, some football players smoke. In Belgium, it was a theme at the European Championships with Radja Nainggolan. Coach Marc Wilmots left the blind eye, but Roberto Martinez said he will not tolerate it. How would you react as a coach when you see smoke a player? Would not you call him?
"That may ultimately wanted something away. Forbid sometimes ... But I will communicate with the appropriate player and indicate that I do not think is good. But in order to make a hard decision, you know I did not. But would the smoking behavior affects the group event or performance, I would keep the player. I think smoking in contemporary times is not befitting a football player. it's not healthy and it is not positive for the final performance. As a footballer you an example, and it can not you smoke. "

Tonight is the Netherlands-Belgium. In your time as a footballer Orange always was considered the favorite, it's crazy to see that Belgium is now a favorite?
"It is true that we live in 'my' time knew a time when the Dutch team was stronger, although we had at the World Cup also in 1994, lost to Belgium. But now Netherlands lost ground. when I see the quality of the players in Belgium, particularly the amount of good players, we will be very envious there on its own. Therefore, we are not advance in one race without a chance, but Belgium has now toppers Netherlands has not, except Robben -.. if he's fit and well, Belgium has so many De Bruyne, Hazard, and one of the best strikers at the moment I work, of course.. along with Lukaku ... "

However, it seems that Belgium has not yet pulled out all the stops with its golden generation. Can you as an analyst put the finger on the wound?
"I personally expect that Belgium more would be at the last European Championship in France. Maybe it's the mentality that piece of self-consciousness. Generally speaking Belgians quieter in the background than Dutch. the Red Devils may have slightly more bravado and radiate bravado. the quality is present, then the mental toughness would have to perform under pressure should be the next step for Belgium. Everyone knows that they are strong, but they need it also show and radiate. "

Those Netherlands conquest has more titles?
" Yes. The Belgians should not be satisfied too soon. "

You mentioned Lukaku as one of the best attackers of the moment. But the Red Devils he is still no undisputed holder.
"I'm surprised. Since I joined Everton work every day with Lukaku. And when I see how he develops as a young player it is important that they feel confident . on the other hand, he may not have always been top performance in Belgium. and then criticism, since you should be able to as a player, it's part of football. But Lukaku is potentially a great striker, one only 23 years old.? he just beter.?Er is much more strain on it. I think Romelu will show that he is the best striker who can prepare Belgium for the coming period. "

is his ball handling his biggest operating point? Against Bosnia in October whistled publicly him mercilessly after missing an open chance.
"I do not agree. I think he is correct in his finishing in front of goal very well. He loves list, and at the last moment as he must finish a chance, he's one of the best that I myself have experienced in my time as a footballer, and certainly as a coach. Lukaku may still do some more in his work for the team, and in defending positionally. but offensive move I find him top. "

Lukaku said in a previous interview that you wanted to transform him into a penalty box striker, more than a counter striker. If that process?
"Something like that is of course on how you want to play with your team. Want to forward play or the half of the opponent? But then I think Lukaku quite complete. He can hold a ball and a target man, and because he was tall and physically strong, you can play directly with the long ball. the amount of the first pole is improved. That seems logical to me. If you're only 23 years old, not everything can already be a 'ten' . "

Can you compare him agree with previous great Dutch strikers from your generation: it is for example the same height as Patrick Kluivert?
"I think it Kluivert it was also as a type of striker he was quite young in the picture and a fantastic career... eventually Kluivert played for Barcelona, which could happen with Lukaku. "

Lukaku actually wanted last summer already one step higher than Everton.?Hoe you can continue to convince him?
"I told him just how honest and Everton see role. he started training later by the European Championships, but I gave him confidence and he has himself recognized that it was good for his development to play another year at Everton. There is a very good contact and appreciation between us. What after this season comes, no one knows. "

Everton may not be the end?
"Yes. not normally. If Romelu until the end of his career was to play at Everton, I know he has left something. his potential is greater and higher than Everton final destination. "

Lukaku was top scorer at Everton. How much he would finish the season as top scorer in the Premier League?
"Which he very much. That would be great for him and great for Everton. Because goals bring points and won games. It works both ways. Lukaku has already seven goals in eleven games. that's a very good start, but he'll have to go through this. "

Roberto Martinez, your predecessor in? Everton, now coach for the Red Devils. He could with his distinct style and more flexible tactics help the Red Devils to achieve what everyone expects?
"Yes, but you never know. That should tell. Martinez has experience as a club coach, the national team is something else. but with the type of players he has in Belgium, and his experience as a trainer and the way his team is trying to play, this should be a good mix. So I see it fit, but ultimately the players will have to effect. "

"It has been taken out of context." Moshiri told talkSPORT host Jim White.

and there u have it. now stop the dooms day mongering

So has Moshiri been back on Talksport then today?

Forced to re-arrange his busy schedule and come on and attempt to explain away the daft comments of his manager. Bet he loved doing that.
