Ronald Koeman discussion

It's there mate.

All he has said there is the same as every manager says, I don't know what will happen next season, but at the moment he knows that his development is best served at Everton. We get on well and he's happy here.

He is then asked, do you think Everton is his last club? (seemingly a literal translation which don't always work, but OK) He's basically said that if he plays to his potential, then he will play at the very top of the game. He hasn't said that Everton aren't good enough for him anywhere, just that Lukaku, if he continues developing, will one day play for the Massive clubs, Barcelona, and if he doesn't then it is down to him.

Koeman seems to just be telling Lukaku that he has to work hard to reach his potential, and he'll only be moving on from Everton if he does reach it. If he does get there by the way, then we'll see the benefits all along the way.

All opinion though isn't it.

in previous years there would have been silence from the club for several days after a story like. I suppose it's positive (if that's the right word) that straight away the owner have jumped on it to offer an explanation.

The probable truth is that Jim would have texted him saying what is all this about and how you view it and he replied back. Jim gets his inside story and at least we get an answer, so for all its obvious faults least we are getting information a dam sight quicker than we used to.

Aye, we can't go too overboard, but I'm concerned at how many people have tried to justify it and pass it off as nothing. That sort of myopic interpretation of his statements can quickly turn to cult-think, and a whole new generation of Daveks and Prevengers are born
Christ. You'd have to be on GOT 34 hours a day to keep up,

We'll just have to get used to Koeman saying whatever he likes. He clearly isn't arsed what anyone thinks, which I suppose comes with the territory when you're a big name-type.

Obviously I'd have preferred him to say something snide, about how Lukaku stayed because when was the last time Barcelona paid a record fee on the back of someone finishing fourth in the PL Golden Boot, but ultimately it's for him to decide how best to quell the constant speculation.

Norman is the wrong and is speaking like a person who is not qualified for the Everton job. When you sign up to be a club manager I think your heart has to be all in. It should be your world and you should do everything to try make it the best club in the league and make that club a club that all players can forfill their potential. Should be the basic prerequisite.

I don't think any established premier league is a billion miles away from making a move to be the best.

Out of context my arse.

Maybe he was taken out of context last week too when he was speaking in English to English reporters and he said that Everton supporters would be happy to see one of their players leave for a big club?

Moshiri said earlier this week that "Koeman is Koeman, and he does what he wants"...well that's what you get for giving him carte blanche...and then he has to get onto Radio Sun to try and excuse him.

What an effing carry on this is.

So...who do you want to replace him?? Where are we now as a club? If you were manager what would you do?

I know I didn,t want a Yes or a "on message" manager so I,m ok with this manager from that perspective alas certain results and performances aside. The truth hurts but it,s reality and untill the board deliver we will continue to pretend we are something we are clearly not in that respect.

So we can either go back to managers who do as they are told and keep the fans in the dark or except who we really are and try to break the glass ceiling by pushing the club owners to be something more than rearranging furniture in the front room twice a year.

Also really baffling how some are ignoring the fact that emery is in third place in the French league with a team that won the title by 31 points last season atm, and has managed to let arsenal somehow not finish in second place in a cl group.

May be a good manager but continues like this he'll be sacked before febuary.
Sounds like we can compete soon!

This role reversal that you and Dave have performed in the last 6 months is creepy.

Been saying it a while now...it's an agreement behind the scenes to keep the circus going!

Excuse-making factories in full flow. One defending the manager and trying to ridicule anybody who doesn't fully adore him and the other trying to bring him down like a lion hunting a gazelle.

It's thrilling.

Keep watching. In the third season Martinez comes back and kicks Koeman out, then the fireworks really start!

HBO quality stuff.
