Ronald Koeman discussion

Sorry for another "knee-jerk" reaction lads but I've recently started to get increasingly worried.

Supporting Everton for me was always more than just results. It was doing it with class. Even during Moyesie's days we had players like Cahill that knew what it meant to play in Blue and and we had moments that I remember fondly, like our cup run and Gosling's goal agains the RS. More importantly, for the majority of that period we would fight and not roll over.

But I feel now that since I reckon Koeman isn't that invested in us long term his only priority will be results to elevate his stature. There's no fight from any of our players and I'm sure the future signings that Koeman brings in will just be there for a paycheck.

I'd love for Koeman to really "get us" and educate the players on what it means to put on that jersey, to teach them about our history, show them the teams of the 80s and even the dogs of war.

Yes Koeman will probably turn this patch around but I'm very fearful that our identity might slowly start chipping away.

As mentioned in another thread, Martinez did understand the importance (although unfortunately didn't get the balance right as he didn't understand the importance of a defence...)

Sorry lads, rant over!

He's not an Everton man.

He's the sort of appointment you get when a business man who looks for short term return gets hold of the levers of club governance.

Tbh, if he shuts his grid and stops disrespecting this club (probably without even registering it, he's so arrogant) and gives us some decent football while he's here that would be acceptable for a couple of years. He's offering neither at the moment though.

I hope next time round someone maybe like Arteta who's learning his trade under the best at City and is an Everton man can get the job.

I have seen glimpses in this team in terms of his tactics and instructions that does make me optimistic for how the team could well progress in the future.

the west brom game i think it was i noticed it. We had a set piece and our centre halves went forward with Barry and gueye dropping back to cover them. Straight away it was clear that Koeman knew exactly the basics of the game and winning, which we had lacked for the 2 years before that. He may not be a pep guadiola but in terms of how the team plays, there has been great little changes so far that i think a lot of us had forgotton all about before this season.

the playing staff just are not at the same level as him though on the whole, which is what is holding us back. For any game like bournemouth where we were the second best team, there is games like burnley the following week which could have been won but the players let us down.
