Ronald Koeman discussion

I'm glad you can look at it the other way. It's about risk reward.

I fully understand that putting in some kids could make a massive positive difference.
However, if it went the other way the damage to these promising kids could be horrible.

For me at least it's not as easy as saying 'play the kids everything will be ok then'. I don't think it will be.
I'm not saying flood the team with youth, just give 1 or 2 a chance. I would rather see a kid misplace a few passes than a senior player not giving a toss. Because right now that's what I'm seeing.

Having said all that I've just read an article in WSC about how Atalanta are having a great season using a load of young players.

PLAY THE KIDS

(Unless they're not ready and it will do more harm than good. Then don't play the kids)

I don't believe that. If they are ready and deserving, I believe he'll give them time. I'm hardly his biggest fan but this is fuming over nothing.
I agree. I'd like to see them play too but I'm behind him at the moment so well see. They are on his radar no doubt and been watched many times.
If we still as bad over the next few games there will questions asked and it will harder to justify them not be included. Big thing is the passion for the shirt and the young lads will bring this.

Id be a bit sceptical of his comments about the youngsters. He had to come out and say something after creating another minor controversy and a rod for his back after the dismal Southampton game with the below comment:

'' I wasn't aware of Josh Sims, and normally my awareness is OK and anyway I just used the academy as a sweatshop to make Official Koeman merchandise, do my online shopping and run my Twitter''

You are double standard dave. You gave Martinez time and continued to praise him even he failed miserably. Why can't you let Koeman signs who he wants and give him a year? While you were satisfiy with the crap Martinez gave this club for the last 2 seasons I think you are a bit unfair here.
Not the same thing is it? Martinez in his first season by this point had us playing and winning and we looked like a good fit. That isn't the case with Koeman.

As for supporting him: he has that. I've stated umpteen times that I'd never get caught up in some knee jerk movement to remove him from the post this season. Any new manager deserves that. And in my criticism of him I ask only that he:

a) respects the club and measures his words (his 'blunt talking Dutchman act simply wont be tolerated here)
b ) gets us playing at least some quality football from time to time in this first season
c) he bloods younger players and doesn't mothball our academy in the same way he did at S'ton

...not too much to ask for really, is it?

Then why couldn't it be to draw the correct conclusion from Josh Sims and state that if they're good enough, they're old enough...or doesn't he live by a pragmatic code....a quality we were told he apparently had and which made him the perfect replacement for the idealist Martinez?

Tom Davies has minutes under his belt for the first team, played the full match against Norwich and came on when we were getting bummed at Chelsea and looked our best player. I think he's ready.

In fairness to our current footballing overlord you could say he did draw that conclusión and still maintains our youngsters are not ready.

We can speculate and assume that he doesnt see much of them but I would imagine he sees enough.

You or I, or another mánager might well risk more and give them a run but it doesnt mean Ronseal is wrong. We sign a pragmátic boss, then pragmatism is what we get.
