I may be missing something, but there seem to be a lot of people who think that because Koeman finished 7th at Southampton, that Koeman can't do better 7th than us? How does that make any sense at all?

Plus Koeman has finished 1st on a few occasions with other clubs?

I can think of plenty of managers who have won leagues and weren't good enough in the long run, and I can think of plenty of managers who have done mid table and then went on to find consistent success.

People don't like to use their brains, they just like to pigeon hole every single manager in to a category because actually studying the manager and his capabilities would take thought as well as effort. Far easier to just say a manager with less resources at a smaller club is rubbish and not capable of finishing higher, even with more resources and any manager who wins trophies at a club with tons of money to spend is amazing, despite it not always being true.

Southampton fans convinced he isn't coming here, and thst he will be going to arsenal next year instead.

Also reckon we have the worst home support on the country

This article is ridiculous - it says Wilkins thinks Southampton are a bigger club than Everton when in fact he is saying we are not a top 4 side and that is what Koeman deserves. Idiots.

Edit: I don't think he means bigger in the sense of size of club, I think he means bigger in terms of more beneficial to him to remain there?

Good job they're about as relevant as Portsmouth.

That's probably doing Portsmouth a disservice actually.

Well, it's just written to generate hits.

'Wilkins claims Southampton are a bigger club than Everton' will get more hits than 'Wilkins says Koeman deserves top 4'

Even if we only look at the Premier League Era, which historians will look back on as the period in which Sky TV invented football:

Everton FC

Seasons in Premier League: 23

Southampton FC

Seasons in Premier League: 16
Seasons in Championship: 5
Seasons in League One: 2

Bigger club? bigger heads maybe, but that might just be due to the interbreeding.

Ray Wilkins proving what a tit he is.

Southampton a bigger club than Everton?! Turn it in, Uncle Fester.

Oh, they're cute. Shall we let them keep Long? When we take Mane, Wanayama, Ward-Prowse, Forster, the fitness coach, the tea lady and the following letters out of their name - Southampton - they'll still need somebody to do the dishes.

I do but I don't think you realise how bookmaking works is all. It's all about liabilities and balancing out the market.
On nearly every event a bookmaker prices up they will make a profit on it regardless of the outcome if they do it right. Not always but most of the time

The round isn't it, shown as a %, the higher the % the higher the profit no matter the outcome. Sometimes visible on live shows ahead of a horse race, but not altogether obvious from fixed odds markets.

Not sure why we are targeting a manager who is already employed when there are very good candidates available t start from day one without a messy compensation battle too.

Jose and FdB are easier, quicker to get in place and at least I'm convinced would do just a good a job (better in Jose's case) than Koeman would not that Koeman is a bad choice, its just he has a job already and not head and shoulders above the competition.

Something about him already having had 8 managerial jobs in 16 seasons is proving off-putting to me. A year or two here, a year or two there. He has won the Dutch league three times I grant you but no trophy won since 2008.

If he got the job I would feel satisfied but not over-whelmed.
