Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman...good choice for us?

  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

  • no, it's uninspiring even if top 6 is back on

  • josé on toast

He may not be a Jose.

But all i'm interested in is a manager who gets us winning games again.

The last 2 years have just been dull, apart from the odd couple of games. Mostly european.

I just want to get back enjoying going the game, hopefully be back in europe, maybe sneak a cup on the way.

If in a few years he has us back in the top 6, maybe he moves on to an Arsenal type of job.

Maybe that's when we can go and get a Mourinho.

I think Koeman or Pellegrini are the safest options.De Boer is bit of a gamble.Ronald Koeman got Vitesse Arnhem into europe.Won the dutch league with Ajax and PSV and The Copa Del Rey with Valencia. He also took Benfica to the champions league quarter finals in 2005/2006.They knocked out Liverpool on the way to end their reign as champions. He's done a pretty decent job on limited resources with Southampton as well.I think he'd do a great job for us and make us regular champions league contenders at the very least.

FFS...your aspirations are as flaccid as my feeling on this candidate.

Yippee effing skippy...Top 6 trophy.

Let's keep him here for 11 years and win F all...we have a new owner with new finances. Your expectation level is so 2008.

I think in a match when Holland beat Germany Koeman did a mock pretend to wipe his backside gesture with his swapped German shirt.Be great fun to see him do something like that after we beat Liverpool.lol

No offence Cheese, but right till near the bitter end you were an RM cultist. Glad to hear you've found some figurative viagra to assist that flaccidity issue you had...

Did this after Southampton beat the RS with a late comeback a few weeks ago:

Hope is a powerful emotion mate. Finally feeling that after a very long time of being told plucky little Everton finishing 6th is a good season definitely clouded my judgement for sure, but aspiring for Top 6 TODAY isn't what we should be aspiring for.

Cultist is definitely a harsh term on those that clung to the hope that happened in the first season. That win at Old Trafford and even more so in terms of hope, the Arsenal 3-0 win had us actually dreaming of what might be. In the end it didn't work out...I will leave it, but I do think his leash was extremely short with far too many...even in season 1...the rumbles existed from day 1.

Anyway...this thread is about Koeman and the flaccid meter attached to it. I'm firmly o_O in the flaccid column with regards to him progressing the club to a title winner/trophy winner.

We should aspire to better but with so many ambitious clubs in the league now (I think the only genuinely ambitionless one left is WBA) finishing 6th is harder than ever. I don't think season 1 of Moshiri is likely to do much better than that and if we end up with Koeman he can attain that.

Leicester Fans are laughing at this post.

Jose for me.
