Ronald Koeman...good choice for us?

  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

If he can bring Wanyama, J Ward- Prowse and Rodriguez with him I'd be happy. Three young, experienced and ambitious players.

Added with one or two world class players and we could get that fight back into our side.

Ward Prowse ain't all that so I'm told.

Rodriguez is 26 now and that bad injury has possibly ruined him.

I'd have Wanyama though. He can takeover Barry in the yellow card factory.

Southampton fans don't think we're a big enough club to tempt him.
Not just Southampton fans. Nearly everyone I've spoken to think it's a sideways step.

I think we need to realise our status has fallen a bit recently. We'd be thinking the same thing if Spurs had finished below us 2 seasons on the trot.

Don't understand how Koeman would be perceived as us lacking ambition. He's done a fantastic job at Southampton. He'd be a very very good choice if we went for him. Really not into de Boer, he's no better than Roberto. Obviously Mourinho would be the best thing ever, and we'd probably never lose a derby again, but it'll never happen.

I remember the same comments before we hired Martinez.

I was against Martinez at the time but was talked around. Not this time.

Jose. Or no way for me.

...from a league position perspective it could be seen as a backwards step. I think the 'we are a bigger club than them' argument is a bit condescending and shows a lack of respect. The point is that Everton will be a very attractive proposition for any manager. They will be aware of hordes of our fans visiting their grounds and know the club has passionate support. They will know about the takeover and the monies at our disposal. They will know the team is underachieving and already has a sound basis. They will know the ambition and they will know it could be a great few years to be in charge.

If we do go for Koeman and he comes to us he will have been asking for reassurances that he doesn't have to sell anybody which is one of the two reasons he hasn't signed another contract with them. The other reason being he's after a pay rise.
