Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman...good choice for us?

  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

  • no, it's uninspiring even if top 6 is back on

  • josé on toast

When did Koeman become the next Mourinho like? really don't see all the fuss.

when koeman won the league with Valencia then later the Champions League with Southampton: that's when people started putting him in the same bracket as your Mourinhos and Guardiolas.

His record in the league of 18 points from 66 tells its own story , with a very good side btw.

A cup is great , but the league is Paramount ...he nearly got them relegated....sounds familiar too.
That's true, but to be fair to him coming in mid-season to take over a team that had been dire under Flores didn't give him the best chance. And at the time they had a squad very like ours now, talented but didn't perform. And don't forget the pressure on managers in La Liga is unreal, you can get fired the day after winning the title:( I'd rather look at him from the prospective of what he did at Soton after having the squad stripped and having to start with a new group (which might very well be the scenario here).

Took Valencia from 4 points off the top to 35 points off. 4 wins in 22 . Blips like this seem to follow him around. Fans hated him too.

No doubt he has an eye for a player , plays quick attractive football but when it falters its spectacular.Big fall outs with players dont help.

I see him as a "current flavour of the month "manager.......if it was before Xmas nobody would bat an eyelid. Think we can do better tbh.

Any new manager will be a risk, don't forget where Chelsea where when the peoples favourite Jose was sacked.I was a season ticket holder that season and just think your being a bit harsh on someone taking over a group of players who were not happy at losing a manager they all loved. They'd just been dumped out of Europe with three points in three games, and the extent of the growing debts was starting to become apparent.Interesting quote from Flores when he left a club in turmoil behind the scenes.

Sánchez Flores said: “On one hand I feel disappointed but on the other I’m relieved. I want to thank Valencia for giving me the chance to coach a top-class team and for giving me enough space to allow me to continue growing as a coach. I leave feeling convinced that we were ready to achieve our objectives at the end of the season, but if this is the best solution for everyone, I accept it willingly. I lose a job, but get my life back."

Wow, next level delusion from the Saints here.

We're a bigger club, end of story. There are bigger clubs than us - we recognise that and live with it. Why are you whoppers so insecure?

Finishing outside the top half is a disaster for us - for you, it's a cause for a street party. Doesn't that tell you something?

I did warn everyone about them.

They think they're better than Bayern.

Personally find it funny that they're acting like Koeman is the second coming of Jesus, and we're all like "meh, whatever."

Quickly earning the tag of "Kopites of the South" in my eyes, but unlike the RS they have absolutely nothing to be cocks about.

Weird.

For any saints fans

Being a child of the Premier League era, my interest in club history is limited, I tend to watch what is in front of me

You've finished above us about three times in the last 20+ years you utter mutant. Even by your own parameters you're a failure.

Five years ago you were in League One ffs, and your top goalscorer in four of the last six seasons was Rickie f'n Lambert - or is that ancient history to a "child of the Premier League era".

If you're going to WUM, at least do so with a degree of subtlety.

Hahaaaaa get on these Southampton fans short memories considering a near decade out of prem league administration battle when they finally won (sorry finished runners up ) the 1st division it was actualy the 3rd the fact they nearly appointed a rugby bloke as manager makes them one of football perennial joke clubs couldn't imagine any manager or player wanting to stay there too long and risk getting caught on the yoyo going down ....don't even want koeman but when u ask why would he remind him of your past joke of a club

They were the same with Poch. That went well.
