Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

Conte has called him "a good prospect" even though he's 24 years old and has been a first-team premier league footballer for five years.

Hints at what's to come for Ross - perma-sub with the odd start in the league cup vs. Walsall. He'll be a decent signing for Sunderland though when they're back in the premier league in 2022.

I think Conte's quotes on the transfer are rather telling:

“We are talking about an English player, a young player,” the manager said. “He has good prospects for Chelsea. I think the club decided for this investment also for his contract. I think this is a good opportunity for the club to buy this player. For sure he is a good prospect for Chelsea.”

It sounds to me like they signed him because he's English and cheap. The fact that Conte kept calling him a prospect should be slightly worrying for Barkley - how much game time is a 24-year old "prospect" expected to get?

Ross should look up Loic Remy’s career path because that’s where he may well be headed. Joined Chelsea from QPR at about the same age, barely played, ended up at Las Palmas and the bottom of La Liga.

Have fun on loan at Palace.

Wouldn't you want to leave if you felt the club you support and love have been trying to push you out of the club by buying 3 people that can play your position? He is human at the end of the day and not saying it is right, but maybe this is his bit of revenge for how he has been treated by the club. He is still young and clearly thinks with his emotions from what I have seen and read in the past.

Yes, I never looked at it that way :(

Poor old Ross.....can't handke a bit of competition at Everton.

So why the heck is he going to a club with about six players vying for his position already....most of them better and more consistent than him.

He has stitched us up good and proper. The club looked after him and this is his repayment.

Will get the odd unimportant game at Chelsea who will IMO be looking to move him on for a profit. They will make money on him.

Fact Conte uses club repeatedly not once in first person from him, suggests it's s club signing not his idea.

...£15m plus add-ons apparently. I’m not sure what those add-ons are, it’ll be interesting if we ever see them reach fruition.
One of the add ons will probably be if he keeps his member in his pants for 6 months.
That’s one add on we won’t get.

Well the gangstas have got their way.

Anyone see that cringeworthy ‘Welcome Barkley’ Chelsea video on SSN then? Jeez, I thought our videos were bad LOLZZZZ
