Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

Surprised he gets game time over Loftus Cheek, who is a super player. Another one being wasted at Chelsea.

Im genuinely fascinated where this perception that he’s an amazing player comes from. I think he’s one of the most overrated players about personally. He barely plays and when he does he hardly sets the world alight, none of his managers seem to rate him much either. He was very average for England in the World Cup bar a ten minute cameo in the first match where he looked decent... he played the entire match against Panama and was invisible.

He has absolutely zero work rate as well, does absolutely nothing off the ball... makes Özil look like a workhorse.

Maybe im being harsh, he’s got tidy feet but there’s a reason he doesn’t even get a sniff other than in dead rubbers

Reinforces my thinking when the entitled 80s crowd hate on Duncan Ferguson and Cahill. For not winning a pot.

Any old average player can win a pot.

Phil Neville, superstar.....

He's clearly a good player. People who have pre-defined views on him and can't bear to admit being wrong will refuse to acknowledge it, but the lad has done well at a big club. He could be doing better, as I wouldn't describe him as indispensable in that Chelsea squad right now, but he's doing well. The belief he'd be bombed out of there within six months to Newcastle is now laughable.

I still want him to fail, I want to be wrong about him, but I don't think I am. I think injuries have curtailed his potential to be truly top drawer, but he'll be an asset to fringe elite level clubs for the rest of his career IMO.

He would have been had Conte still been there.

Ok fair enough. I've never heard of the 'give the football away to opposition' role. Forgive my pig ignorance.
There was a top flight manager who once told a midfield player to punt the ball out as near to the oppositions corner flag as possible every time he had the ball as playing out from that position was a weakness spotted in the opponents team. He looked awful all game and the stats were terrible reading but he was doing exactly what had been asked of him by his manager for the benefit of the team.

I note your ignorance and will give you a pass this time.

Glancing at other clubs' forums, I must say that comparatively, GOT is an oasis of objective, rational analysis. Yes, we are lucky to have "been chosen" and lucky to be spoilt by the quality of togger our lion-hearted lads provide us supporters. But nevertheless, it is a feather in our cap that we comport ourselves in such level- headed and humble fashion.

Plus having a swear filter makes GOT more pleasant place. The Millwall forum would have little content if the swear words were taken out
