Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

Laughing at people here posting the fume of Chelsea spanners on social media.

I think we're nearing the bottom of the bitterness barrel.

Ross will be more than ok there. Class will out. And we all KNOW that he has class even if if some are too consumed with fume to admit it.

One season where he looked like the 2nd coming and 1 really good 1/2 season. Plus he's coming off an injury. At a club like chelsea you get say 3-4 months to prove yourself or you are having a seat at the end of the bench and they'll be back in the market to replace you.

I don't think he'll be bad but can't see him and as anything a squad player there.

I'm defo not a Koenman fan but I think he made him a better player (one of his very few good things) and still he was often in and out of our lineup.

Not even that much. The hype of Ross Barkley was a Rooney-sized emotional leftover of us really wanting a local lad to be a world-class one-club-man. We were willing Ross to be that man, hyping him since he was 16/17. Alas he's not it. I'm not bitter either, honestly don't think he'll be that great for Chelsea, he's not good enough to be a first-11 choice for a club challenging for major honours.

Tell you what though, one thing is for sure - Conte didn't want Barkley. That's abundantly clear; how Ross didn't read that ahead of signing is baffling as Conte hasn't been shy about it.

He’s only there because it’s the move that would of got his agent the biggest payday. Don’t think playing time or doing over your supposed club would of been a big factor in his (agent’s) decision making process.

The criticism after one game from their fans is embarrassing. Sadly there are a lot of football fans out there, and we have many of them on here too, that decide they don't like someone and then almost hope they perform poorly so they can criticise them. Or alternatively, will refuse to give any credit when they do well.

I've got no time for Barkley anymore, but my disappointment in the way he handled his transfer won't make me spout rubbish about his ability and be bitter about it. He is a very good player on his day, however has some major flaws which are at risk of being exposed at a club like Chelsea. They will have a lot more big important games where he is expected to perform than when he was here, and if he's a passenger in them, he will get hounded out.

Absolutely no excuse for any professional footballer to not beat the first man on set pieces though, especially more than once.

To add context:

He clearly means Barkley isn't match fit and needs easing in.

However, I also don't believe for a second he's a Conte signing either. But that's poorly worded from the BBC.

Agree, very poorly worded, but that will stick now and loads will use this against Barkley for the whole time Conte is manager.
