It's all hype - he's not as good as people make out, add him to the list of talked up everton youngsters who end up at Barnsley or similar.

Quite possibly true. If he was tearing it up in the reserves then he would get more game time. He isn't, and that's why he doesn't.

I sincerely hope you've never really watched him or else that is one incredibly vacant comment.

Anyone can see the way he plays even at a young age is just immense, in the way he dictates tempo, always has his head up, is comfortable on the ball and well it's Rooney-esque. Baxter and so on never looked like that.

Any problems he's having now I would attribute to psychological or experience issues rather than actual ability.

People talking as if it's too late and he'll never make it. Lol.

He's 18.

This!.

I do think he needs to go out on loan to a decent Championship side where he will get his fair share of games so that he can gain experience, bring his game and confidence on and then when he comes back, take it from there with him and see how he's developed or changed in that time away from the club?!.

Reserve/U-21 level isnt what he needs to test himself anymore, it's at a proper club with points at stake and good crowds to test his talent and potential. Atm we cant give him the game time or enough of it that he needs so send him on loan where he as the chance to play and let him learn there.

I still think he's got the talent, potential and quality to make it but he needs regular games to settle down, gain confidence and be relaxed in his own game to showcase what he's got.

I really do think we could send him out on loan till January with a recall option in his deal IF needed and then if we sign someone in Jan, maybe Odjidja-Ofoe or whoever, then we can extend the loan till the end of the season and let him carry on, hopefully, maturing and realising his potential out on loan.

I remember Wilshere coming on to the scene at a similar age and doing well one pre-season and in a tournament at the Emirates a few years ago and Wenger talking him up and saying he's a big talent, just like Moyes with Barkley, and then all Wilshere got was mins here and there, the odd cup game and what have ya and not really showing the talent Wenger was waxing lyrical about.

Then he got sent out on loan to Bolton and got regular games, grew in confidence and did well and never looked back and became a regular for Arsenal and England before his injury last season!.

Some times it takes being out of your comfort zone, being round different lads and a manager with different methods and obviously getting the chance of regular games to really find your feet and come on as a footballer and i think thats what Barkley needs personally.

There's a big difference between u21 games/reserve team games than actually playing week in week out with points at stake, crowds urging u on or against u. He's never really experienced this yet and he needs too to complete his progression from reserve to first team.

We can't really afford to carry him for a couple of months with points so important. A short term loan will be the making of the lad I'm sure!!

He was the best player on the pitch first game of last season.

You deffo haven't seen him play often then mate, he is superb for his level and i have no doubts he will be a regular face in the team in the next few years to come.

We've a lot of games coming up in which hopefully we will win comfortably and he'll get some time on the pitch. Unfortunately we will start with Neville in midfield against Newcastle, i'd put money on it!

Can only go by what I see and he seems very non descript - I call Moyes for all kinds of things but I can see why he doesn't play him.

We've had this a million times our top youth player gets junior games for England and all of a sudden the tom toms beat that he's the dogs bollocks - only been right once and that was Rooney.

Another Baxter, Cadamateri et al.
