He's more than ready to be creative player in the Premier League. It amazes me how unwilling Moyes is to use that. People can say all they want about it only being "potential" but when a player can do the things he can with the ball, it's only a matter of time really. It baffles me how anyone would not want that creativity in and around the first team, even as an impact player. No one's saying throw him in the heart of midfield, he's not ready for that, but he's versatile enough to play in less demanding positions, and the footballing ability is just insane. Too good to ignore.

Thing is a lot of players don't break through until they're 21-22 so it's far too early to judge but I will say that if he doesn't make it eventually then we've coached him wrong. The boy has the talent, he just needs the games to prove it.

Would have loved to have seen him gone to Celtic on loan as was rumoured.

Moyes/Stubbs/Weir coached a creative player wrongly - how could you possibly think that?

Always appears odd that we are prepared to throw new signings into the premiership after one or two games but kids it seems take seasons to get there. I can't imagine the Danish SuperLiga or the SPL is at a standard close to the EPL.

Like on the wing, instead of bloody Osman.

When Baines first came to the club he struggled to get into the first team for a long time as the manager set a standard he wanted the player to reach before playing him.David Moyes is a very demanding manager and Baines is a better player for it.
I think something similar is happening with Barkley.Barkley has been regarded as the best at each of the levels he has played at to date.Sometmes he was playing a level one or two years above his age...it seemed easy for him.
The level he wants to reach isn't easy...for anybody and I think the manager has set the player a standard he needs to reach to play in the team.Ultimately he will be a better player for it...as was Baines.

Baines was playing regular football with Wigan in the Championship and the premier league and was, IMO, already a ****-hot player.

With Barkley, its different. He's clearly not ready to start...but he's too raw and a liability in Moyes' eyes to play as an impact sub especially when there's others in the pecking order in the squad - players that are more rounded.

There lies the problem of why he should be sent out on loan. He needs games and he needs to develop. If not, he'll turn into Anichebe - a very unintelligent footballer, years behind his development due to injuries and game time.

He NEEDS to be loaned out, but do we have the squad depth to do it? Still think that was one of the reasons why he wasnt loaned out last season, our squad was massively gash at the beginning of last season in terms of quality and depth, so he was needed to make up the numbers.

No he doesn't, one more injury in midfield and we'll be playing a rubbish defender there. He's needed here because the lad is good and will be class.

I think jnr is possibly ahead of Barkley if a injury crisis was to strike. Even if we're a bit short I still think we should loan him out. Just a short 1 - 2 month deal where he plays every week would benefit us more for the season ahead than having to rush him in now.

For me the best simplest solution IF gibbo is injured is to move fellaini back for a couple of games. Stick ossie or Neville next to him.

I think the main thing is to make sure were not lining up with nev and ossie which clearly doesn't work!

the small squad isn't a reason to not loan him out as moyes will play our centre halves in midfield ahead of him if need be - i think a loan deal to someone like Forest or Blackpool till xmas would be ideal....

I think he needs to be loaned out to a Championship side for a season. He doesn't even play well in the U-21 side at the moment.
