Minimum £44 million...

Yes. It suggests he could possibly be bought for £44m. That'd be daft for a hundred reasons, not least the fact that that amount isn't even that much now. Given the rapid inflation in transfer fees in the game, it'll probably be worth considerably less in real terms by then.

Makes sense that you know, be a strange contract, but it makes sense for Ross and for the club I feel.

Wouldnt be surprised if true yano.

As for the Gk and CB, it doesnt take a genius that with Howard being 35 and Distin 37.

If minimum release clause meant what I thought it did when I made this post, it would mean we couldn't get mugged off, we could just laugh off the 44 mil but at least teams wouldn't take the piss.

Could see it in the summer, not January though.

Jeez Louise, are people really debating a facebook post from some no-mark? I've already pointed out how and why his statement is a load of crap.

Nar, im just debating whether 44m would be a fair price really, there are currently only 12 transfers that have cost more than that amount, I would gladly accept 44m.

To be fair, £44 million is a hell of a lot of money. To put it in perspective, it's roughly 1/3 of our annual turnover. However, the way the market is going, it might look like F all in a few years - much like the fee we received for the crocky wonder kid.

According to todays rags, Tyler Blackett is in line for a new 50k per week contract from the yank mancs. Mental.

How can you stop people speculating about your players?

You can't if there's a biased media that ignores things like players signing new 4 year contracts two months later.

There also seems to be a ton of ignorance about the realities of FFP and also total ignorance of Barkley's own comments a few weeks back about not wanting to 'do a Rooney' to Everton, and how he wants to stay at Everton to win stuff at Everton.

All this 'the board will sell, Bill will cash in' stuff is utter nonsense.

The clubs finances have changed with the new tv deal. We might not be rolling in it but we no longer need to sell any player for anything other than footballing reasons. The situation in the summer, with every major player given a new contract, and no sales whilst spending over £30m on new players illustrates that.
