I'm fairly sure kenwright had some imput in the Rooney and arteta sales due to needing the cash.

You're "fairly sure" basically translates as "I'm guessing" doesn't it?

Our 4 biggest sales: Rooney - demanded a transfer. Arteta - Cried for a transfer. Lescott - demanded a transfer and then played like a bag of crap for us. Fellaini - we knocked a bid back 30 minutes before the deadline, forced him to hand in a transfer request, and got even more money from the mancs than they'd offered 25 minutes earlier. What's the common factor? Well, it's that they all wanted to leave, but our manager(s) made sure we got as much as possible for them.

This is the problem with Brennan and his slightly abrasive style. I love him and he's right, Barkley isn't worth 44m yet, but he could be a little bit more gentle about it.

It's like when it's his turn to give, no caressing, just straight up when you're not expecting it, then pounds away for 30 seconds or so.

He's worth it to us.

It's not just about the money. Selling him would be symbolic. The club is in a far better place now than at any point in the last 25 years.

We are past 'cashing in on our best players'. And what happens when you cash in? You basically get worse players and go backwards, as Spurs and Liverpool have shown.

There is simply no point in supporting a football team if you think of players as inanimate objects that are worth a finite amount financially.

You're supposed to be a football FAN, with heroes and idols, and a love for the club that means you want the best players to stay at a club.

You should want wins and trophies, not great looking bank statements.

If you believe that then fair enough. You're wrong though.

Imagine if a team offered £100m for Barkley and Martinez said 'nah, you're alright', that Kenwright would say 'okay Bobby no worries'. Wouldn't happen.

HAHAHA, proof, source, or stfu with speculation.

Speculation is fine, but don't dress it up as fact.

With all due respect, you're clueless. The key reason why Lukaku isn't looking anything like the player he was last season is because he doesn't have Ross Barkley feeding him. End of.

Barkley being absent from our team this season has seen his value shoot up not down.

You can't replace a Ross Barkley, as Martinez has said multiple times.

So lets get this straight. The fact that Barkley is better for Lukaku than Naismith means he's worth more than £44m ?

Okay mate.

Meanwhile Aguero gets sold to City for £38m.

Everton were complicit in both the Rooney and Arteta deals. I think it is highly naive to think otherwise.

I absolutely agree with you in that he's symbolic and to us, is worth much more. He represents where we are as a club and no club has not suffered from selling one of its leading lights, no matter who they are.
But to other clubs, as it stands, would you realistically expect 44m+ from them?

I just wish Ross would come out and say he's happy here, and maybe Bobby could say he's happy to keep him, and then maybe Ross could sign a new contract.. then all this speculation would be laughable.

What, you mean like he did TWO MONTHS AGO when he signed his new 4 year contract?????

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jul/29/ross-barkley-everton-new-contract-manchester-united

Barkley scored seven goals in 38 appearances for Everton last season and played nine times for England, including their three games at the World Cup. That intensified interest from rivals and the debate over whether the boyhood Evertonian, like Wayne Rooney and others before him, would quickly depart for richer climes.

But Barkley said: “I never thought about it. This contract means everything for me. It is my dream to play for Everton. This is the club I love and I see it as home. We’ve got to push on now and one of the objectives is the Champions League.

“The contract says that we are hoping to push on and win silverware. It shows the club is keeping its best players like it did last season when Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman and a few others signed new deals. That brings stability and shows we want to push on together.

“I realise the importance of signing because I remember how I felt when Wayne left. He was one of the best players in the team and we thought we could push on with him at Everton. When he left we were all down as Evertonians. I just wanted to sign and hopefully we can push Everton on together.”

None of this has anything to do with how much Kenwright would accept for Barkley. Nothing at all.
