I'm not impressed with him that much tbf. Watched him "tear it up" against Crazyforest in the CL - he didn't; a (what should be) no-mark player denied him any space or time on the ball, basically man-marked him out of the game expertly, with ease....I have to say I'm impressed with Sterling, I reckon he's their key player. I know some on here compare him to SWP, but he looks a talent to me and he's got a lot of strength and attitude (for a small lad).
Barkley can be seriously good. I posted a clip of Bobby Charlton earlier in this thread but fear not many saw it because it was lost on the bottom of a page but I think he's a similar type. I want Barkley to produce the final product a bit more, especially the explosive shooing power he (and Charlton) have.

Tbf I think we're both right, but the key word here might be "inconsistent" - he looks a world beater one game, then a week later looks completely lost playing the same role, in the same team.......ok, you could well be right. I watched him against Chelsea and his strength up against Ivanovic really surprised me. I think he's the one player they have who can make something out of nothing by going past people. Time will tell if he's special but he looks decent to me.
The same could be applied to Barkley to be fair.Tbf I think we're both right, but the key word here might be "inconsistent" - he looks a world beater one game, then a week later looks completely lost playing the same role, in the same team...
Dunno.
Yeah, but he's ours so we're allowed to call him the best ever. The same could be applied to Barkley to be fair.
How dare y....fair enough. The same could be applied to Barkley to be fair.

I think his game goes off when he tries too hard or thinks too much. Against Villa, he just played lots of simple passes and give and goes. His natural energy inspires the team. I wish he'd play like that more consistently......be interesting to see if Barkley starts for England. He's clearly highly regarded, I just want a bit more end product with him. Everything else looks so good.
Rooney is a definite starter given his 100th cap but he could well be played as one of the front two strikers in the diamond formation along with Welbeck as Sturridge is out with either Berahino or Lambert coming on as subs......be interesting to see if Barkley starts for England. That leaves Ross, Sterling and Downing all in contention for that tip of the diamond role, think Sterling will get it tbh.
It is possible he might get a start on the left where Delph was - especially with Martinez playing him out there the last couple of games.
