Ross Barkley

I'm struggling to think of a football club that hasn't sold one of their superstars in recent years. United sold Ronaldo, Liverpool sold Suarez, Barca sold Yaya Toure, Arsenal sold Fabregas etc etc.

People say we got robbed with Rooney, but I don't agree. He was the most expensive teenager ever at the time, and there were only a few players who had ever cost more than him at that time. It also allowed Moyes to invest in the squad, without that money I don't think we would have had as much progress with Moyes.

Fellaini was said to be our best player but most people would say we bought a better player in McCarthy, and the rest of his cash went towards signing a young Lukaku, and we are stronger as a result, Imo.

I remember saying at the time of Fellaini's sale that I would be mortified if Everton had gone out and bought a player like Fellaini for 28 million pound, and the same applies to Barkley, I wouldn't want Everton spending 60 million on him, and that's because you could get three players of equal or better quality for the same price.

.......I suspect any Barkley move will happen when he wants it. I don't get the impression he wants a move at this point and I really don't see him being keen on City. They are a club who abandon players to the wilderness that are not an instant success. Barkley isn't like Rooney, I think he will need time to settle and a Manager who looks after his development.

....you forgot 'and City sold Balotelli'.

Think the experiences of Lukaku and Deulofeu at similar stages in their careers won't be lost on him. Barry, Milner and Rodwell may well also give him some advice on how likely, or not, he would get regular game time at City.

He's definitely not worth 60 mil but, I think the whole sell Elvis but signed The Beatles things has proved to be totally wrong - with Spurs and Liverpool in recent seasons.

Barkley based on quality isn't worth 60 mil, but that's the price we should be demanding because to us he really is one of the keys to our future. We won't sell him before Euro16. After that is anybody's guess - hopefully he'll be here for the next ten years or so.

I said in a earlier post ,let the lad have a free role and play anywhere. he looks to me like when he plays for club and country he has just had to read a 6 page dossier on where to go and what to do. Shackled by over coaching, RELEASE THE ROSS.

The last few games Bobby has played him wide - poor decisions both times. He played brilliantly vs Villa because he was at the centre of everything. Hodgson hasn't got a clue about anything - England are dreadful and tbh I'd rather not have any of our players be playing that turgid stuff atm.

I'm a bit worried to be fair. I've just read Bobby's comments about him being the best England player ever and it seems a bit "pump and dump" to me.

Even though I can see the logic with the new stadium etc I really want us to build on the potential of our young players with Ross at the heart of it. Given some in our youth team and what we already have we aren't or won't be too far away at least for CL and the money from that will more than make up for any sale we would get.

I think if we knew for sure Bobby would get the entire 60 million to spend, id reluctantly sell.

Roberto won't sell willingly. At 60m £ he is laughing his head off, trust me. As for Barkley , you're right he wants to stay, he will be evertons player in two years from now. He will go when it is right, and he won't be moving to trash like Man City.
