It's more a hypocritical thing for me, he says this whilst moving him out of his best position to accomodate other players.
Would Toure, silva, hazard, Fabregas etc. Be ushered out of their best position for other players
i forgot we finished 6th last season
Martinez doesn't half exaggerate and go over the top about Ross.
Saying he will become the greatest England player of all time, he needs to calm down and stop hyping him up so much.
It's almost like knows he's going and the more he hypes him the more money he thinks we will get for him.
I don't think that's exaggerating at all, to be honest. He watches him every day in training and is in the best possible position to form an opinion on him. I'm quite confident that Barkley will be in with a good shout of Ballon d'Or at some point in his career. The last Englishman to win that was Michael Owen, and I think we'd all agree that Barkley has the potential to far succeed Owen's career.Martinez doesn't half exaggerate and go over the top about Ross.

Agree, hes got absolute everything to his game, just needs to mature abit and polish a few areas offI don't think that's exaggerating at all, to be honest. Toure switches between CM and the #10 role as does Fabregas. Silva regularly switches from the wings to CAM. Hazard is almost always played at LW under Mourinho but he has occasionally played central for both club and country. It's more a hypocritical thing for me, he says this whilst moving him out of his best position to accomodate other players.

So yes, they all have played in more than one position on the pitch depending on the needs of the team such as injuries as they are all versatile players.

Barkley is a CAM and only that, maybe one day he could play deeper but he's not a winger by any stretch.
Iirc Barkley has played 4 games out of the CAM position for Martinez, Arsenal at home last season where he played as LM as Osman went off injured, Crystal Palace at home he was CM because McCarthy was feeling his thigh muscles, and the last two games as LW as we have limited wingers due to injury. That is out of ~ 30 games he's started for him.All those players are capable of playing in those positions, your argument is the same as saying mirallas is played out of position when he moves from LM to RM when in fact he can ply both positions. The way martinez is defended for this is laughable, the same people lambasted moyes for playing players out of position yet cuz dat bobby got uz der 5th playce and plays the ball on the ground he can't be criticised.
60m isn't enough for what Barkley means to us and could become for us. Stay with us Ross.
He doesn't play as an orthodox winger when he is put on the left either in my opinion. Especially with the width that Baines provides he is much more likely to cut inside than beat a man and cross it in to the box.If Martinez makes a habit out of playing him on the wings for no discernable reason, like Wenger does with Ozil for example, I 'll be right up there complaining with you. But in each of the previous cases there has been a clear reason for the switch - injuries.
