Barkley is not a replacement for Gibson....unless of course you want to lose against Newcastle. If the choice to replace Gibson is Neville or Barkley then it must be Neville.Of course I think the more obvious choice as has been pointed out already is to move Fellaini back and play Naismith behind Jelavic.
Barkley getting regular football at a good championship club will be of huge benefit to him.

I doubt he will replace Gibson against Newcastle, seeing as he's probably going to make his Sheffield Wednesday debut on loan tonight.

The most overhyped Everton player since Jose Baxter.

Honestly comments on here about him being the best english midfielder since Gazza or potentially the best ever home grown everton player are just wrong. He's a good player who deserves game time and should hopefully become a regular starter for us in the next two to three years, lets not go beyond that. It's not good for anyone.

I agree that most fans are getting a bit carried away and putting too much pressure on his shoulders, but any intimations that he's going to end up being the new Jose Baxter are even more ridiculous. The lad's got clear talent but whether that is nurtured and fulfilled remains to be seen. There is a lot to get excited about but you should never get expectant.

I'd rather he played for us but I'm not against a short term loan deal. Any type of regular football will be good for him, he'll be playing infront of proper crowds and all and all it's just a different pressure to reserve football. He'll have less time on the ball so he can brush up on his mistakes in dangerous areas, when to release the ball and when to work his magic.

If they have a half decent footballing side then I fully expect him to rip it up and come back with rave reviews, his development hasn't stalled at all and the doubters who probably haven't even seen him play will be put firmly in there place.

Anybody with eyes can see the lad has talent, tons of talent. But to play CM in the Prem you need proper game sense. The lad is 18 years of age hes still learning life.

If he was a winger or striker it wouldnt matter so much, personally I think the loan will do him the world of good and think its defo the correct decision.

Good luck Ross lad, do yourself proud.

good point, off the top of my head i cant think of any 'wonderkid' central midfielders or central defenders, just doesnt seem to happen

You've just got to hope he gets off to a good start. If he goes straight in and does well in his first game it'll give him a massive boost. Come on Ross.

CB-wise Jones and Smalling, although they were both played out of position a lot.

Ross could still get some minutes out wide though, or in a more advanced midfield role. They're less calamitous areas to make mistakes, but also great areas for creative players with a touch of unpredictability.

maybe moyes see him as a central midfielder and doesnt want to ruin him by playing him out of position
