Ross Barkley

Moyes won't use him in midfield as he isn't a centre half and/or can't be used as an enforcer like Fellaini. It's that simple. It's not because he isn't ready, as he started the season playing full games and hasn't been injured. It's simply because he gave away a penalty and he wasn't a Moyes favourite so he couldnt get away with it.

The same thing happened with Coleman at right back, and he only saw the light of day again because we had nothing for the right wing.

Moyes himself has said we are grinding results out and he clearly doesn't feel a "luxury" player like Barkley fits the bill.

One thing you can say about our team is they work hard all over the pitch (maybe Louis aside) and if we had the luxury of being able to carry a couple of players not as disciplined as the rest, then I am sure Ross would be in there. DM picks players who fit in with the team ethic and HIS gameplan, and thinks that Ross can't match this criteria at the moment.

Neville is invisible half the time. Unless Moyes' gameplan is to have a team of 10 players then i don't see your point.

Personally, I think it is because expectations are sky high on a kid who has missed a big chunk of football in a crucial stage of his development and we are a team who are struggling. Why would Moyes want to throw him in at the deep end for a team who aren't exactly flowing with confidence and thus, the expectations on Ross would be even greater to perform than they already are? It could ruin him, just think of the amount of players who have failed to live up to huge hype and pressure. I think Moyes is protecting him for the good of both us and his future.

That's just the way I see it though...

I'd still like to see him, even if it's a cameo 10 minute appearance. He'd best bloody feature against Tamworth

Did you see the state of our side when Rooney broke through??? That didn't exactly break him.

Phil Jones played for a p*ss poor Blackburn side at a young age, noq an England international at United.

James Milner in a Leeds side that could sour milk... Loads more examples, the point is, you can't ruin a young player by giving him a few games in the Premier League. You can burn him out if he plays 30+, sure, but we are talking about giving the lad who is widely regarded as our best prospect ever about 15 games, especially when the lad is a creative midfielder playing for a team that has literally nobody else who is!

Neville isn't the greatest player by any stretch, but he serves a purpose in the DM role. Just because a player is not always on the ball doesn't mean he is not contributing. What did Cantona call Deschamps 'the water carrier' I think it was.* There game is not about being on the ball it is about breaking up play, closing down space etc and giving the ball to people who can do something with it (which he indifferently did at the weekend).

Lets be honest if Fellaini and Rodwell were fully fit he wouldn't be playing.

* - In no way am I comparing PN with Deschamps.

Totally agree!

Loving the fuming going on in this thread.

All the fuming in the world doesn't change the fact he's not ready to play week in week out.

Moyes sees him day in day out, if he believes that Ross isn't ready yet then I trust that decision, wish other people would too. What needs remembering is that Ross has missed a lot of football and development when firstly he had a hernia and then broke his leg.

Moyes has said we will see him more at the latter stages of the season, I expect him to be involved at some point against Tamworth though.
the kid is head and shoulders above everyone in training ,seen it with my own eyes half a dozen, times ,gtf ,not ready yet ,and you trust moyes ,i would not trust him with me mar in law
